Pale brown copper with a thing diminishing white head. Smells of caramel malt, nut, toffee and a berry (cranberry or fruitjuice). Full oily butter body. Sweet taste of ripe fruit and caramel with berry. Some citrus and floral finish. Wonderful alternative to a traditional bitter. Good change.

Handpulled at..you’ve guessed it. Honey amber skimmed with white. Honey and lemon throatsweets, pinecone, tea, soft leafy hopcone aroma. Honey tempered with robust hop bitterness if not flavour; long, dunked butter biscuit malt finish; Weetabix and aniseed hints. Very pleasant accompaniment to a jenga of Sheffield sleepers (chunky chips, lad). Good length and malt.

500ml bottle from Booth’s, Ilkley (£1.15- I was robbed). Pours still, brilliant gold almost like apple juice with a fleeting skim of head. Metallic dog aroma sprinkled with tea, caramel..a needle of pine. Dour, uninteresting beer with a honeyed metal, caramel-dabbed pine and tea feel. Decent creamy afters, light ferny hop, low condition. Won’t revisit at half the price.

Golden ale with a hazy tang. A lacy white head stays over it. Served very warm this one. Yeasty and strongly bready in maltiness. Pale malts notes are pretty much to the forefront. Hoppiness is mostly the bitter kind and slightly floral. A bit grainy and grassy upon the finish. Pretty good.
