Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, salty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, and salty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and toffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of nuts, malt, caramel, and some straw, leading to a dry nutty finish.

Bottled (From Beers Of Europe). Quite much black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is mild roast, some raisins and quite sweet strange notes. Flavour is rather similar with some slight chocolate cookies as well. Not the most interesting beer.

Bottle. Pours an almost black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with some hints of coffee. Roasted malty chocolate flavor with some salty hints abd hints of coffee. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

Clear dark brown beer, small tan head. Light but pretty dry palate. Minerally mild dark malt with just a trace of roast and coffee. Usually get more tang from an Oyster stout. Okay but too dry.

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Black with dark brown edges, thin tan head. Very tasty stout, full, rich, may even have oysters in it, it is that rich. Very good.

Dark brown color, small brownish head. Sticky vinegar, dark malty aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Slightly tart, roasted, ashy flavor. Vegetables too. Not pleasant.

Pours completely black with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma is sweet, lightly roasted, some saltiness and light berry tartness. Light carbonation, fair dry mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, light caramel and elegantly roasted malts. Fine, elegant stout.
