StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Jul 4, 2007 A dark, reddish orange coloured beer with a frothy white head. A malty nose, caramel and a banana-like fruitiness. A bittersweet taste, a dry malty flavour is followed by a sweet caramel taste, toffee apple, then banana again. A smooth, not too sweet finish. (Cask - The Ouse Amateur Sailing Club, King’s Lynn, Norfolk).
fonefan (4884), Ulfborg, Denmark Oct 2, 2008 Bottle 50cl. @ chris_o’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2008. Clear medium to dark golden color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, spicy, resin. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average duration, and very much resin in the flavor. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. (020808) Magic_dave6 (4012), London, Greater London, England Sep 4, 2008 Bottle at chris_o’s ok still missing the rochefort tasting. Alround rating: Yeasty beast, pale malts, honey sweetness. Not really doing much for me. SilkTork (3941), Rochester, Kent, England Aug 17, 2008 Chris_o’s GBBF Shindig 08. Smells of old glue. A strange bitter fruit tasting beer. Toffee. Mes_and_Sim (4487), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 10, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s Pre GBBF Tasting Dark gold with a thin white head. Spicy and buttery. Dull caramel malt but thankfully the diacetyl is just about kept in line. Sweet alcohol notes are pleasant enough. Standard stuff. gary07734 (166), Tyne & Wear, England Aug 9, 2008 Red tinged amber pint, nice looking. Smell is pretty alcoholic, sweet and malty. Taste is malt, banana, distinct warming alcohol finish, almost as much alcohol taste as a strong belgian type ale.
Nice flavours, decent ale.
