Bottle from Beers of Europe (not my selection). Poured a hazy chestnut colour, with a scummy white head. Aroma of dried fruit, wet grass and malt. Cooked fruit flavours, with some cake and straw. Finish was copper, bready malt and peal.

smells just like warm water, burnished gold in colour and the head has gone, tastes amazingly like flat warm cola. the mouth feel is awful, to be honest i think it may well go down the sink.

Bottled 04/04/14. A dark brown coloured beer with a white head. Very fruity and malty. Grainy and chewy. A bit of jam. Seems quite hoppy really but ends up being too fruity chewy.

Pours dark amber with a rapidly disappearing light tan head. Has an aroma of malt and lightly burnt toast with a strong burnt flavour . Fairly flat.

Philym (1004) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JAN 10, 2014
Appearance: Clear ruby with cm thick ivory head. Aroma: Chocolate malt, bread/biscuit, slight fruitiness and a note of plum. Taste: Low/medium bitter and sourness, low sweetness and a slight saltiness. Palate: Smooth thick texture, light body, low/average carbonation, abrupt dry nutty, malty finish. Comments: Tasty but not outstanding. Not sure where Christmas comes into play other than the name.

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with just a chink of red around the edges. The head dissipates a bit too quickly. Nose - dark chocolate and liquorice Taste - more of the same, with malt bitterness in the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a finish which is dominated by malt astringency. Overall - this seems to have a lot of poor marks. I think it’s quite decent, of course these days this style of beer is not in vogue.

allmyvinyl (3657) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 5, 2013
500mnl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours chestnut brown with little to no head. Aromas, such as they are, are light red fruit and caramel. Light spice on the taste. Finishes unexcitingly. I said when I bought this, "It’ll probably be terrible, but let’s give it a go". Not terrible, but not great.

Low fruity malt and trace hop resin in the nose, slight chocolate powder bitterness in the mouth with a low malt sweetness and some oxidation, finish is briefly bitter then lingering but muted chocolate sweetness
