A light, amber gold coloured beer with a frothy white head. A distinct hoppy smell, hints of turkish delight which lead into a delicate malt aroma. The taste is dry, slightly fizzy and hoppy, with a yeasty sweet, malty flavour, with the turkish delight element coming through. The aftertaste is dry on the mouth. Bottle.

Tasted 06/03/2006. 500ml bottle-conditioned ale from Rumble’s, Wellington. Bright pale-gold with a white sudsy head, that thins and then lingers. Weak lacing. Tiny bubbles trail up the side ofthe glass. Nose starts with barley sugars and toffee, then descends into volatile honey-like esters and a musty yeast aroma. Grassy hops are low key, on the nose. In the mouth it’s not getting much better: little malt profile, a sharp citric/metallic middle, and a short nondescript bitterness, before it all fades away. Light-medium weight with a carbonic bite. Quite forgettable.

Excellent refreshment. A well hopped pale ale, leaving a pleasant dry aftertaste. Give me a case of this on a hot summers day!

Aroma of caramel malts with some grassy hops, maybe some vanilla in the caramel. Taste is great, grassy/citrus hops light grapefruit and maybe some lime peel and quite a bit of bitterness.

Bottled. Hazy orangeish colour with white mediumsized head. Hops, fruit and honey in aroma. Mildly malty flavour with flowerish hops dominating. Nice hoppiness makes this a good one. Good beer to have with friends while being social at a pub. Nothing you would drink lots of though...

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2006 (Bottled) Hazy, pale golden color with a large, white and lacy head. Lemony-flowery-hoppy, slightly acidic and dryish aroma. Dry-lemony-hay-hoppy, mildly acidic flavor with smoky-ashy hints, and a dry, lemony-bitter finish. Slightly harsh in its dry hoppiness, but on the other hand, you can almost taste the raw hop pellets. Light to medium-bodied, dry palate with smooth carbonation. Definitely more character than in the cask version I’ve had earlier. Still a bit too raw and unrefined to be enjoyable - needs more malt. (Cask conditioned@Black Door, Helsinki, rated Oct 10, 2005, was 4-3-4-3-8=2.2) Paleish, hazy golden color with a small head. Mild, british-hoppy aroma (can’t recall the hop type). Acidic, mildly malty flavor with sourish vegetable hints. Some crisp hoppiness is left, though. Light to medium-bodied palate with low carbonation. A very modest real ale, most probably not at its best. Quite a disappointment.
