Our flagship Pale Ale winning Best Beer (Sheffield 1999) and champion beer of South Yorkshire in 2002. This golden ale’s distinctive character is skillfully achieved by the subtle blending of triple malts and Cascade hops making this delicious drink a favorite.
Ingredients: Maris Otter pale malt, lager malt, wheat malt. Cascade and Fuggles hops.

The name had me thinking IPA before logic caught up and told me Wentworth Pale Ale. I was making comparisons to a US IPA though and was pleased to later discover that Cascade is used. Nice citric grapefruit kick sits well inside the smooth palate. A touch of spritz for a cask ale. Nice refreshing quench in the finish and citrus lingers well into the aftertaste.

Pale golden. Citrusy aroma. Light bodied, dry and hoppy with nicely rounded malt profile and ans intensely bitter finish.

Pale gold colour. A very impressive pale ale. Not an IPA though. Quite intense bitterness throughout, but lots of hoppy aroma as well. Definite grapefruit tones characteristic of the Cascade hop. If you like your beers malty, you won't like this, if you like them bitter, but characterful, you will. I do. In a beer festival that was understandably (hottest summer for years) dominated by light coloured thirst quenching ales, this stood out for me. Great British Beer Festival, August 2003.

Poured from the bottle (self titled WOPPA), a very clear straw yellow with a medium frothy head. Aroma very hoppy and citrussy. Bitter hops come through on the palate, with citrus again in the flavour.

Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. A really pleasant surprise this one. Hazy orangey colour with a white head. Citrus, grassy, hop aroma. Really liked the cascade hop present here. Great balance of fruit and hop with a superbly bitter finish. This is seriously under rated on here. A cracking brew.

what a bizarre beer. an APA meets an english golden ale meets orval. sulfuric aroma like a burton pale, there's grapefruit from the hops, vanilla from the malt, and i could swear there's some bretty sourness in there which totally bewildered me. also peary fruitiness. not a lot in the way of malt guts, but the flavours are really complex. pretty damn weird - i liked it a lot. thanks duffer/per

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2014 Amber and a bit hazy. Thin head. Leafy hops and a touch of farmy pedio on the nose, but the palate is clean, richly hopped, very dry and with just a little biscuity malt.
