3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
An Aldi’s buy. I was surprised by this one. Very malty grain flavor up front with a backend bitterness. The palate seems a little too thick for the style and low alcohol content. Nothing special in the aroma.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Grainy with a faint floral nose. Skunky (green bottle) and there are certainly malts, florals and hops. Decent

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle from Aldi’s. White head, sparse lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a pale yellow hue. Skunky and malty aroma. Yuck. Malt flavor. Smooth mouthfeel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not being a fan of this style of beer, I was expecting it to taste uber skunky, but to my surprise, it wasn’t bad at all! Crisp and decently flavorful; a great summer-day beer or just a decent alternative to the heavy, dark beers that I typically enjoy.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
This bottled brew from Aldi’s super market poured a medium sized head of finely sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a minimal poor. The body was very softly carbonated transparent and weak yellow in color. The aroma was mild slightly skunked slightly malty and slightly astringent. The mouth feel was mildly tingly and astringent with a lingering poor aftertaste. Perhaps this bottle was not as fresh as it should have been. After all, it was green. The flavor contained notes of adjunct astringent malt and slightly off. Further samples did not help.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Run of the mill Pils. Sparkling gold body with white frothy head. Some hoppy aromas, but corn and can both present. Perhaps this would be better on tap or in a bottle. Taste is mild hops sweetness. Bitteraftertaste with a smooth mouthfeel. Ordinary.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Yellow and clear, this poured with minimal head and no lacing. Smells lightly malty, a very slight sulfur. Body is crisply carbonated, biscuit malt, mildly hopped at the end - just a little dryness. Not bad. Thanks Marge!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tart and fizzy but not necessarily unpleasnt. I have found some sediment in some bottles, but I am not sure that that is a sign of advancing age.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pleasing mid gold colour, with light carbonation. The head didn’t last. Biscuity malt and herbaceous green hops in the aroma. Much the same flavours, with some flinty dry hop and a touch of bitterness. There’s a rusty iron undercurrent too. Although the finish is clean, the hop profile isn’t entirely convincing; it is a bit soft and lacks in definition. My personal preference is for a rather more aggressive bite, but this is undeniably fairly well balanced and a pretty decent pils. As it was quite near the BBE date, I wonder whether a little of the zip had ebbed away. 500ml bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk. BBE 31 July 2004.
