UPDATED: APR 5, 2007 Pretty good pils. This is refreshing and easy, yet tastes very good. Isn’t excessively bitter nor hoppy.

Bottle. Aroma-average like any other pils. Appearance-good. Flavor is excellent and definitely a classic pils taste; hops dark and spring at you on the finish. Bubbly on the palate and better than most commercial brews. I had to score this highly because it beats most mass-produced lagers, and also because it’s an inexpensive import. When a small, old and very experienced brewery from Germany comes in and kicks butt, you have to admire it.

500 ml can, dated 24.05.06 (don’t know if that’s BBD or brewing/packaging), from Metro Joanette in Verdun, QC (December 2006) enjoyed 5 minutes out of the fridge from a Christoffel glass. Billowy, voluminous white head leaves thick tufts of lacing atop a very pale, slightly hazy yellow-gold body.....very light floral/perfumy quality initially in the nose, dissipating and replaced by more usual though reasonably fresh grassy-hoppy tones, all quite pleasant but underpowered......the body is more agressively flavored than the nose would indicate, lots of nice fresh grassy/earthy bitterness and a sweet subtle honeyish maltiness that fades smoothly into a quite dry, lightly mineralic finiish....moderate to strong carbonation, lasting tart-bitter aftertaste. Really nicely done.

500 mL can. Pale yellow-gold. One-finger head quickly dissipates to a sticky film. Grain in the aroma, but there is also something else - perhaps the hops that others speak of. Feel is definitely dry - like soda water. There is a sort of floral taste on the sides and top of the mouth - something again I can’t quite describe. Interesting, but not in a really memorable way.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2010 From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Aldi’s" discount market - This one pours a golden, bubbly brew with a grainy aroma and tall white head of foam. Its taste is that of a clean, dry pilsner... nothing great, but definitely nothing bad about it.

Very classic german pilsner. Very pale yellow. Smells a bit grassy and hoppy. Light hoppy taste. Nice dry, papery and bitter finish. Not good enough to make it shine, really.

Not the beer I like. It has a bit strange bitterness.

A nice looking beer it is honey colored with a nice inviting soapy head. Aroma is mostly hops but some fruit and grass are easily detected. Flavor is crisp hops and it is nice and clean. The hops have a pleasant bite to taste. Saarz hops must be included. As the glass warmed the hops presence diminished. Very much a classic pilsner.

Clear yellow-blond body with a small white head. Faint cereal aroma. Some straw in the body and none of that crisp hops other reviewers seem to enjoy in this beer. What I got was some slightly unpleasant wet grass. I will need to retry it when I find the right occasion and something appropriate to accompany it, but right now all I can think of is a dry unsalted cracker while watching a late-night infomercial.

Largish coarse shiny white head over pale yellow body. Milky, papery aroma with a touch of hops. Bitter, crisp, clean malt taste with flowery background. Dry, papery aftertaste with notes of caramel. A perfectly decent pilsener. (0.5l bottle.)
