Mes_and_Sim (4176), London, Greater London, England Jun 29, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock. Murky amber brown with no head. Very floral and peachy aroma with something sweet in the background that I’m struggling to identify. Flavour is more of the same. Rather bland and boring with a slight bitterness in the finish. Nothing special. FatPhil (2060), Espoo, Finland Nov 13, 2007 Cask (The King’s Arms, Kidlington)
Copper colour, thin head. Spicy sweet and fruity. Good body too, plenty of medium-roasted, slightly nutty, malt and crisp hoppiness, but well balanced. Despite being 5%, this sessioned perfectly - drank it from 10am to 2am. (for 2 days) chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Apr 27, 2007 Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Rather similar to the Custom Beers Chinook tasted just before. Distinctly hoppy aroma but the US hop character is not particularly apparent. The flavour is also very hoppy in an assertive way. Tending towards harsh and aggressive. Fair amount of bitterness. The mouthfeel is quite light. Decent stuff but would benefit from being a little more aromatic.
berkshire_john (1033), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Mar 5, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Hobgoblin, Reading. Slightly hazy copper colour with an off-white head; inviting citrus aroma; sweet and sticky in the mouth, like drinking orange marmalade; and a bitter orange aftertaste. Very different, and interesting - but slightly too sweet for me. Doppelganger (1112), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Jan 31, 2007 Cask, Turf Tavern, Oxford. Slightly hazy copper with a long lived cream white soapy head. Enticing musky Sweettart® and marmalade aromas. Floral and marmalade hop flavor, interesting and mildly funky. Some tropical fruit esters. Malt warmth that appears after a few sips. Just a little metallic and viney in the finish, but otherwise a very nice pint.
