Commercial Description:
A silver medal winner at the 2002 SIBA South East Regional Competition. A traditional style beer with all English hops and a good bitterness balanced by Maris Otter malts from Wiltshire and Suffolk. This beer is named in memory of the brewer’s father, who was the lock-keeper at Whitchurch-on-Thames, and sometimes nick-named Mr Chubb.

Cask conditioned @ Bankes Arms, Studland. Citric hops provide solid contrast to the biscuity malts and caramel. Very drinkable with a smooth hop finish.

Cask Conditioned at the Hobgoblin, Oxford. Gold amber colour with lasting gassy head. This is a light hoppy, tangy if thin session bitter which I enjoyed immensely. The hoppiness pervades right through the beer from first to last and tingles the tongue. I could have happily stayed on this.

Hazy amber color. Aroma of ripe apples. Medium malt flavor, smooth texture; caramel and ripe apples. Quite good final bitterness.

Draught at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Chestnut brown with an off-white head, aroma of citrus hops and caramel malt, intense bitter taste with some citrus on the follow-through. Amazingly robust and full-bodied for the ABV.

Draught. Small white head. Hazy cobber body. Dry malt aroma. Bitter hops flavor with a nice long aftertaste.
