berkshire_john (1106), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Jan 17, 2007 Cask at The Hobgoblin, Reading. A reddish chestnut pint with a low off-white head which lasted to the bottom of the glass; nutty and malty aroma; full bodied and chewy in the mouth with predominantly fruity flavours and some subtle bitterness, leading to a fruity aftertaste. An excellent pint. Doppelganger (1199), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Dec 13, 2006 Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd winter fest. Copper, small cap of off-white. Warm marmalade aroma, cinnamon, plums. A pleasant round sort of aroma. More marmalade in the flavor, warm, lingering, soft. This was a great surprise--really a nice ale, even tasted next to a much more flashy Crouch Vale ale.
