Just tried this Cider today, this has been well worth the wait, much of somerset has been traveled and many cider’s have been tasted. This cider is quite dark in appearance, almost to the point of being full bodied, which in turn adds great flavor with a very strong but very nice fruit flavor. This is a must try cider for anyone in the area, and the man who makes it is very welcoming, this man wins awards and does not even advertise.

Bag in a box at Kent BF 07. Orange/gold cloudy, no head. Cheesy apple aroma. Really a very fine cider, good fleshy apple juice. Ridiculously refreshing, dry, but not overpowering. One of the better ciders. Lots of fruit and character. Superb. I was there at Reading this year when it won Champion Cider of the Year.

Comments: An excellently balanced, pretty juicy, aromatic cider with solid apple flavours that are complexified by lots of farmy character.

Cask at Helsinki beer festival 2006. Slightly hazy golden-peach color. Excellent sour apple and rose aroma, slightly sweet. Strong and sweet apple flavor. Fruity-bitter and astringent apple peel flavor brings the balance. Finishes sweet and astringent. A very smooth and satisfying cider!

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2007). Sour smell, but very fruity. Full fruity taste, quite dry, but not at all sour - very drinkable.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2007 A Mes rate: Bag in a box at Kent Beer Festival. Lovely cloudy orange appearance. Quite funky and pooey in the aroma. Flavour is superb. Lovely and sour. Maybe not quite dry enough for me but there are plenty of juicy and puckery apples. Excellent woody character too. Dry finish with just a kick of lip smacking sweetness. Very interesting. Excellent mouth feel. Damn good cider.

Cask - Planet Thanet Festival 2010, Margate. Poured a cloudy, golden orange with no head and light carbonation. Crisp and fresh dry apple aromas, good sweetness. Juicy apples, some dry woodiness and a delicate tartness. Really refreshing, medium in body but a real thirst quencher. A cracking cider!

Straw colour. Slightly hazy. Lighter colour than the West Croft Dry. Bought from the barrel at the farm. Very appley and juicy but, at the same time, retains some traditional farmyardy character. Smooth mouthfeel and, overall, a quite mellow cider. Very nice, From the barrel at the West Croft Cider farm.

Jugged At The Harp, Covent Garden, London. Cloudy orange pour, wee little frothy head. Surprising funky, acidic aroma - at first I thought it was a lambic with some apple added, but it settled down to tart overripe apple, moderate alcohol, even sweet and slightly "off" white wine. Taste was incredibly smooth, this seemed like it had just come out of the press, tart fresh apple, a hint of lemon juice, alcohol - it was exactly like cask cider, if there is such a thing - anyway, it was fresh and complex and nicely sour. The body was a tad light, but the feel on the tongue was exquisite, no carbonation to speak of, but nice and sour and refreshing - man this was good.
