3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 yespr (26476) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - DEC 5, 2008
From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy yellow with a small and almost gone white head. Fruity and bubblegum aroma. Towards plastic. Smooth wheaty. Dry and slight malty with a light caramel note. Lasting mild fruity note into the finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (26476) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 21, 2008
Draft as West Hefeweizen at 5.2% ABV. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with very strong notes of citrus. The flavor is sweet again with very strong notes of citrus, but also with light notes of banana and wheat, leading to a dry wheaty finish.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Rastacouere (6058) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 25, 2007
Golden cloudy ale with a mostly lasting white cover. Rather sour wheatiness hits up the nose with soft banana esters. The sourness appears less strong in mouth, perhaps slightly lactic, but so does everything else and the result feels simplistic and wheat-focused.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rickgordon (3816) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2007
On draught at the brewpub.
Cloudy pale yellow colour, big head. Phenolos in aroma, with low esters. Light-medium bodied. Rich estery/fruity in flavour. Not very big in flavour profile, still a decent hefeweizen.
2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 RoyceH (1180) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - AUG 30, 2007
Tap, Blackfriars, Glasgow, RBESG 07. Cloudy straw gold, big white head. Nose is cat piss, some grassy hop. Mouth is grassy hoppy wheatness, some earwax and banana. Touch of citrus. Finishes quite dry, watery, bananay, chalky.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 omhper (17561) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 30, 2007
Draught at the brewpub and at Blackfriars, Glasgow. Cloudy yellow. Evident banana aroma. with a twist of lemon. Medium sweet with a tad thin mouthfeel, but a very authentic yeast induced clove/banana flavour. Mustardy finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rlgk (7538) - Skövde, SWEDEN - AUG 30, 2007
(RBESG 2007, Keg at Blackfriars, Glasgow) Named Hefeweizen when I tried it. Hazy yellow, white head. Banana aroma, a bit spicy and somewhat sourish. Malty wheat flavor, spicy notes. Fruity finish with banana notes.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Sigmund (4280) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 29, 2007
On tap at Blackfriars, Glasgow, as "West End Hefeweizen", according to my notes. Cloudy pale golden colour. Typical hefeweizen aroma of cloves, but with some strange sidenotes of rotting vegetables. Citrussy flavour, notes of cloves, thin mouthfeel. Not a very successful hefeweizen in my book.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 harrisoni (11023) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2007
At the West Brew Pub, Glasgow. Advertised as the Amber Hefe, but it couldn’t have been due to the colour. Tom confirmed with the guy behind the bar, that it was the regular Weizen. It’s a hazy pale gold, with thin white head. Some banana, little bit thin in mouth, malt/cereal isn’t great. Some lemon. Really just a bit light in the flavours.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 thebeertourist (4313) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 24, 2007
Hefeweizen on draught@The Blackfriars, Glasgow. Orangey yellow colour, cloudy, very small head. Aroma of coriander and banana, mostly. Flavours emphasize spices like coriander and clove, but banana is always there as well. Well-carbonated, medium body. A well-made hefeweizen.
