COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based on the Vienna Beers of old but with a hefty dose of Munich malt, caramel and biscuit dominate with a very smooth body and slight Perle hop as counter balance.

Cask at Piping Live, annual piping week Glasgow. A clear dark red with thin fine head. Aroma of hops and taste a somewhat mild bitterness, floral notes, oranges in there. Pleasant enough.

On tap at the brewpub. Amber coloured, minimal off-white head, mild toffee/caramel nose. Toasted malt, caramel and fruity with buttery notes in the finish. Not bad.

Keg at Cloisters. Pours ruby, nose is cheesy toffee, caramel, taste is sweet, burnt toffee, malty.

Scopey (7396) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 27, 2014
Keg at the brewery. It pours deep ruby-amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, toast, red berry, caramel, light sulphur and brown bread. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, jammy, red berry, residual sweetness, light toast and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Simple but drinkable enough. Jammy fruit aspect is decent.

Keg at The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer, Bristol. Ruby to brown with white head. Thin and particularly sweet beer, washed out malt character. I wasn’t really very keen on this.

on tap at the mercat in edinburgh, after watching hearts vs aberdeen. a bit of a disaster apart from its healthy amber colour; musty, lightly vinegarised malt character; brazil nut skins, metal and old wood; obviously had turned a bit

Keg at Munro’s, Glasgow, Scotland. This is an interesting beer, full flavour but very light, clean aroma, pretty sweet taste, malty finish. One of those lagers mascarading as an ale, pretty well done but if your not crazy on lager like me it will be an occasional half.

From tap, nicely served half pint at the West Brewpub. Beige tophead leaving dotted spots on the glass. Clear, near-mahogany coloured body. Pretty to look at. Roasted dark caramel malts to the nose. Brittle caramel in flavour with distant hints of red oranges towards the finish. Soft carbonated, Crispy. A rather pleasant one (Glasgow, 13.04.2012).

On tap @ the Black Cat, Rose St, Edinburgh. Pours a reddish-brown with a decent sized head that hangs around for a while. The nose has biscuits and strawberries and this is confirmed on the taste but the aftertaste on the end is quite astringent and unpleasant. The palate as noted above is decent in structure and texture but has an unpleasant finish which makes me glad I only had one to drink. Overall, unbalanced which is a shame.

Keg at Burger Meats Bun, Edinburgh. Clear amber body with a thin beige head that slowly fades. No visible carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of marzipan, wood and nuts. Flavour of aniseed, caramel, lightly roasted malts and red apple. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A simple, tasty beer. I’d gladly have this again.
