some sweetness with a nutty flavor and a hoppy citrus and pine presence tempered with a substantial fresh from the farm malt character. vibrant carbonation makes it great for whenever you want to cool off. deep amber color adds intrigue.

My friend Big D turned me onto this brewery about a year ago. I had to drink another before rating the beer, and I saw this bottle at vintage Estates, I had to pick one up. The last time I tasted this beer it was flat and skunked. But this bottle was fresh, and this was a decent beer. I liked the hoppy flavor, surprised from a small brewery and this style, and balanced with a nutty slight bitter finish. Decent CO2, I guess I am going to have to try a few more from this brewery. Are you in Dennis?

Sample at the brewpub. This brew is a dark amber color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly. Spotty lace from top to bottom. Light malty aroma with touches of fruit and hops. Medium, smooth body with flavors of malt and caramel predominantly. Bits of citrus and hops here and there as well. The finish is sweet and malty with a sweet aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

On tap. Brown with a decent size tan head. Aroma is light, caramel, a bit nutty. Solid flavor.

On tap at Bar 101 in Charleston. Seems much more like a very malty pale ale, or IPA than a "Brown Ale". It poured a nice reddish brown with a slightly hoppy aroma. Flavor was strongly hops, with a bit of a sweet malty finish. Overall, not bad. For WV brews, I’ll take just about anything from Mountaineer over this though.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Like a red, only maltier like a brown. Pink reddish colour with some head and lace. Hops there as well as malt. Above average carbonation that was higher than needed. 5.2% abv. The one I liked the most for drinkability and balance.

Pretty good amber, but not great. Nutty as you might expect, slightly hoppy. Not terribly strong flavor.

2nd one on tap night before we moved Kara from WVU. Dark amber beer. Some sweetness up front then a bitter bite at the end. Not as refreshing.

11/107 - Sample at brewpub. Dark amber color. Nose is a bit of hops. Nice malt backbone, touch of roasted malt, carmel. Good hop prescence, floral and citrus. . A touch of earthy bitter aftertaste. This is a very good flagship beer. Let’s go, Mountaineers! Could definately have a bunch on a gameday.

I don’t beleive this to be a brown ale, way too many hops for that, but it was a decent beer nonetheless from a very small brewpub.
