Our Third Anniversary beer is inspired by the classic combination of dark chocolate and oranges. A dark and roasty imperial stout base is infused with cocoa nibs, copious amounts of fresh oranges, and a hint of vanilla. Can be enjoyed now or cellared up to one year.

Smells just like a chocolate orange. So much orange aroma it is surprising. Looks amazing. The head is super creamy and a nice dark brown. Taste has orange but it really battles with the roastiness. The two flavors hit together rather than a fade from one to another. This is really rough on the palate. The acidity from the orange really exacerbates the acidity of the stout base. Overall this beer really suffers from the palate. The acidity of the orange is just too much. The aroma is perfect but the taste just doesn’t translate. Not a bad go at chocolate orange but not amazing.

from Erzbierschof - black beer with a little beige foam left; roasted chocolatey aroma with notes of Grand Marnier, vanilla, spices and oranges; pretty sweet, earthy notes of cacao, light bitter, long aftertaste of oranges and cacao

Bottle sample at Muckfest V on 7/12/14. Pours black in color with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and orange. Malty flavor giving way to orange and chocolate before a bitter dark chocolate and roasted malt finish. Very nice.

Dark brown body with a brown head. Malty dark chocolate roasted aroma. Some burnt sugar, dark dry fruit. Tried this twice and the orange was much more prevalent on one occasion. Sweet taste, light bitterness with a long finish. Really liked it.

22 oz. bottle someone at Muckfest shared - thanks! Pours a deep, opaque brown with a dark tan head. Very attractive. Notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, earth, oranges, lighter vanilla and cacao, and molasses. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich mouthfeel that has some definite bitterness. Interesting beer.

Keg at Craft Covent Garden; dark brown pour with a creamy dark tan head, Terry’s chocolate orange aroma, taste has chocolate, roast malts, zesty orange, lovely viscous mouthfeel, very enjoyable. I’d wrote this review before I read Johns.

Keg at CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico. Nearly black with a tiny brown head. Smell is like an alcoholic Terry’s Chocolate Orange. Bittersweet chocolate taste with a short bitter finish. Chocolate dominates the aftertaste. An incredible experience.

22 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Greenville, SC. Pours black with a luxurious cinnamon brown head. Aroma of chocolate roasted malts with hints of orange peel. Taste of cocoa, espresso, and vanilla mostly. It does not appear at first but orange suddenly makes its way through and is a welcome addition to cut through the heaviness of the rich roasted malts. Great beer!
