3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bartlebier (464) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - APR 30, 2013
Sample of 75cl bottle courtesy of long-hauling Travlr@post Tour de Geuze tasting 04/2013. "malt beverage". Tastes like: Apple brandy. Dryish, barrel-aged tripel. Which happens to cover exactly what is on the label. Yeasty calvados tripel? Well-made for what it is. Not sure when the need will arise again...
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hayduke (2938) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 26, 2013
Sampled at a ESBLS tasting. This was a gusher. Big carbonation. Gold in color. Nose of fruit and yeast. Possibly wild yeast. Flavor of apple and again the yeast. Sweet finish. Don’t get the brandy barrel.

22/IV/13 - 75cl bottle @ Rampkrot (Deurne) - BB: n/a (2013-370) Thanks to Travlr for sharing the bottle!
Little cloudy orange beer, big creamy off-white head, little stable, adhesive. Aroma: bit sugary, orange peel, apple sauce, calvados. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very bitter start, apple skin, citrus, bit sugary, some alcohol. Aftertaste: little sweet, calvados, pretty bitter, almonds, citrus, hoppy ending. I’m still not convinced that it’s a good idea to barrel age a tripel, but Kasteelbier could learn a thing or two from this one.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. This was a HUGE gusher. Hazed golden with a white head. I smell wild yeast so this might be infected. The taste is sweet and infected. Spme apple. Too bad the wild yeast got in there.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BoBoChamp (4195) - Gent, BELGIUM - APR 23, 2013
75cl, new exclusive American brew Anno 2012, thx to Travler!, very complex brew, fruity/floral and slightly alcoholic/sweet, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, small head, very good brew
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 77ships (2162) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 22, 2013
Thx to Travlr. 75 cl. bottle sampled. Hazy bright orange with an okay creamy white head. Nose is brett, orange, light yeast, children aspirin, quite lactic,… Taste is lot of brett in the taste, very explosive with lots of carb. lightly lactic, tart; touch old, moldy apple, child aspirin, strong bitter, touch lactic lemon,… Explosive carb. Nice but not entirely there.

Bottle from the source, shared at kraddel’s 21st birthday tasting in Antwerp. Almost a gusher. Cloudy golden color, large fluffy white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of vanilla, cider, lemon, very subtle barnyard. Taste is smooth brandied applesauce, light spice, pepper, dust. Hi carbonation. Delicious.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2013
750 ml bottle served in a Westbrook snifter. Bottled September 10, 2012. Big thanks to rnorgart for the bottle!
A: Pours a hazy amber color with a frothy yellowish head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thick film and leaves a lot of soapy lace down the glass.
S: There are a ton of awesome smells going on. Brandy barrel, some light green apple with a subtle tartness. Sweet malt bill, a little pale in nature with minimal yeasty notes coming through. A little oaky as well with a touch of funk.
T: The base tripel really comes on in the flavor profile with the accompanying brandy barrel. Apple tartness, fruity Belgian yeast with a little bubble gum. Mild funk with some dry oak barrel.
M: Medium light bodied with a very yeasty and dry finish. Ample medium high carbonation that makes pretty drinkable for a drying, 10% tripel.
O: The nose was excellent on this beer and it was nice that the base tripel still shown through on the taste. The few other barrel treatments I’ve had of this beer have been a little too barrel forward so this was a nice treat.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 maxwelldeux (2240) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAR 22, 2013
Bottle at a bottle share. Holy crap this is amazing... the first blast you get is of the apple, which shocked me based on the style. There is some definite sweetness that comes through from the apple, the brandy, and the Belgian yeast, but the sweetness is balanced out well. It’s quite smooth and easy to drink, yet slightly rich. Great brew.
