4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 hopscotch (8242) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 1, 2013
(Rating #8,200) Growler... RBWG 2013... This beer rocks!… Dark brown pour with a small, creamy, taupe head. The nose is super-complex, presenting layer upon layer of deeply roasted malts, red wine, vanilla, toasted oak and bourbon. Medium-bodied and oily with fizzy carbonation. The flavor supplies loads of malty caramel, toffee and chocolate accompanied by hints of dried dark fruits, bourbon and acidic red wine. Nicely balanced – doesn’t really lean sweet or bitter. Mid-length, tangy finish. World class effort by Westbrook - shared by ygtbsm94!

Growler at RBWG thanks to ygtbsm94. Pours a clear, cola red. Weaker head. Nose is malted milk balls, tomato, sweet tomato paste, apples. Taste is tomato, steak fat, savory, some acidic tartness in background. Lemon acid, steak fat, quite savory. Zippy finish. Almost oud brune in profile. Interesting blend.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (7179) - London, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2013
Growler at RBWG 2013. Pours cloudy brown with a faint, creamy head. Boozy dark fruits in the nose, good bit of caramel. Medium to big sweet, with pleasant lightly aged malts, sweet bread, toffee, golden raisins. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with mellow tangy fruits, berries, lightly toasted bread, caramel. Pretty delicious beer, the dryness makes it quite drinkable.
