COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brett/peppercorn saison

Thomas is the third installment in our “Bearded Farmer” series of saisons. In keeping with the farmhouse brewing tradition, the idea here is to brew each successive beer a little (or a lot) differently than the ones before it.

This Saison-style ale uses Pilsner & Munich malts with Wakatu, Motueka & Pacific Gem hops, and it is fermented with a single strain of French saison yeast

Bottle from whole foods midtown east. Pours cloudy brownish orange with huge white head. Nose of tropical fruits and spice. Tastes of tropical fruits and grapefruit, black pepper, coriander, doughy, some funk, ginger and lightly herbal. Not as dry as most saisons but quite pleasant with lingering finish.

Bottle poured a murky peach with a huge white foamy head and intense lacing. Aroma is big lemon zest, tropical fruit, and subtle yeast funk. Taste is initiallly citrus followed by a wave of spicy yeast with some funk and spices. Enjoyable carbonation, thick mouthfeel for a saison, and spices lingering.

Whole Foods, Bowery 750ml ($12): Pours a really hazy orange/yellow with a white head. Aroma is funky, somewhat citrus, yeasty, and a tad herbal and spicy. Taste is the funk. Not as much dryness as other saisons. Hoppy tinge. Sort of everywhere a saison/Belgian ale tries to go. Good, but not as impressive as some of Westbrook’s other beers.

After having this beer for the first time on Draft at the Brick Store, I spread its gospel through trades to whose lacking distribution of Westbrook beer. Pours the hazy side of yellow with full white head. The scent is a beautifully blended mix of citrus and savor. The flavor follows the scent with a bitter tartness flowing directly into savory notes. Bubbly, like a good Saison ought to be. Draft - Brick Store Pub - Decatur, GA

7/3/13. 750mL bottle thanks to nulledge. Hazy golden pour with a small khaki head. Funky yeast in the aroma with plenty of fruitiness and a touch of acidity. The flavor shows funky yeast as well with citrus, ripe melons, and lingering dryness. Tasty.

Bottle from Liquor Express pours golden with a half inch of white foam. Lots of carbonation. Leaves a fair amount of lacing in the glass. Nice fruity, task notes on the nose. Nice tartness on the tongue. Finishes dry which keeps thigs clean. Another winner from Westbrook.

Bottle shared by Keith, pours hazy golden with white head, light to medium lace. Notes of white pepper, yeast, citrus dank hops from NZ and spice. Light to medium body, slight ash in finish.

Shared my bottle of this at northernbrews in July. Cloudy orange pour with thick pillowy head that fades slowly, leaves some webbing. Aromas are leather, lemons, black pepper and Belgian yeast. Taste is very peppery with light lemon. Belgian yeast takes over in the finish. A little foamy in the mouthfeel. Overall, not bad but pretty disappointed.
