COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brett/peppercorn saison

Thomas is the third installment in our “Bearded Farmer” series of saisons. In keeping with the farmhouse brewing tradition, the idea here is to brew each successive beer a little (or a lot) differently than the ones before it.

This Saison-style ale uses Pilsner & Munich malts with Wakatu, Motueka & Pacific Gem hops, and it is fermented with a single strain of French saison yeast

Shared my bottle of this at northernbrews in July. Cloudy orange pour with thick pillowy head that fades slowly, leaves some webbing. Aromas are leather, lemons, black pepper and Belgian yeast. Taste is very peppery with light lemon. Belgian yeast takes over in the finish. A little foamy in the mouthfeel. Overall, not bad but pretty disappointed.

Sampled at THE FESTIVAL 2013 In Maine with Andrew, Jay and Kramer. Pours a lightly cloudy amber body with nice active white head and lacing. Aroma is spice, lemon, light funk and citrus. Mouthfeel is great, very delicate and balanced with notes of spice (peppercorn maybe?), lemon funk, sweet fruit and a faint doughy character. Very nice saison.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, peach, orange peel, Belgian yeast, and a touch of lemon. It pours a dull golden-orange with a large white head that leaves behind a lot of thin webbing on the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus and Belgian yeast. The finish has orange/lemon peel, floral notes, pepper, and a hint of lemon.

Draft at Westbrook. Deep golden pour with a large rocky white head with lots of lace. Funky yeast aroma, orange blossom honey, fruitiness, grassy spice and dough. Slightly sweeter body with yeast funk, dough, lemon and spiciness. Thicker body and sweeter than the usual suspects but damn tasty nonetheless.

Draught at Craftsman. Slight funk in aroma. Very yeasty. Yellow. Cloudy. Lemon. Nice saison overall. Not dry, but enjoyable.

Tap at the Distillery, Savannah. It pours cloudy orange with a thick, dense white head. The nose is earthy, brown bread, tangerine, spice, hay and wood. The taste is earthy, orange peel, tangerine, white grape, zesty, earth, spice, grassy, dough and crisp bitterness with dry, lightly spicy finish. Medium body and moderate+ carbonation. Good depth of flavour, balance and high drinkabilty. Damn tasty.

Pours a hazy yellow ochre color with a big frothy white foam. Lots of rustic dough, floral honey, herbs, spearmint, basil, citrus. Nice round mouthfeel with great carbonation that rolls into a bitter spicy finish.
