Taylor is the fourth installment in our "Bearded Farmer" series of saisons. In keeping with the farmhouse brewing tradition, the idea here is to brew each successive beer a little (or a lot) differently than the ones before it. Taylor is brewed with a large percentage of rye and wheat malts, moderately hopped with Tettnanger and Pride of Ringwood hops, and fermented with a blend of farmhouse saison and brettanomyces yeasts.

Bottle from icehawk. Pours golden with a nice fluffy white head on top. This definitely has that damp basement smell; comes across as a bit spoiled. Straw notes, funky Brett, and citrus all contribute. Crisp and dry in the mouth with straw, tropical fruit, Brett, and a hoppy finish. Excellent stuff; certainly tastes better than it smells although the aroma isn’t bad, just strange. Light enough in the body to be a thirst quencher and the carbonation seems spot on. I like how this is Americanized but glides along nicely and maintains the delicate nature of what makes the saison such a special beer. Although obviously the style has expanded over the years. Thanks again, icehawk!

Bottle @ ZZT 9, small sample. Cloudy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of bubblegum, bit tart, spicy, lemon, slight horseblanket. Slight bitter in taste, bit dry. Lovely farmhouse beer.

Orange hazy, big white frothy head. Smells of funk, spices, yeast esters, hints of cat pee, citrus hops, light malts also with cellar and must. Light sweet, quite funky, a touch of tart fruits, fruity yeast flavors, bone dry mouthfeel. Medium bitter finish, hoppy with resins. Very nice saison, quite funky and hoppy, which is an awsome combo.

Bottle, bought @ Vinoble, Odense. Pours murky yellow with a small, creamy white head. Aroma has sweet malts, doughy, hay, floral. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has sweet malts, doughy, apple, soft funk, oranges. Good, lingering dryness.

Bottle @ ZZT 9 thanks to Joes. Opaque yellow color, fizzy quickly diminishing white head. Aroma is yeasty, fresh, slightly herbal. Taste is also quite fresh, yeasty, some resemblance to Orval. Average to medium body and carbonation. Nice!

Pours a yellow slightly unclear beer with a good white bubbling white head. Smells lemon, fresh, hops. Tastes herbs, hops, lemon. Average carbo, thin body and a watery and dry texture.

Geysir. I hold the bottle 3-4 cm from the glass, and the beer literally spouts across the gap into the glass. Spectacular, but annoying. By the time I’ve cleaned up I have one glass with no head, and one glass with a medium white head. Hazy, nearly opaque, deep dirty yellow body with carbonation visible through the haze. Funky vaguely barnyard and fruit aroma with spicy mealy notes. Dry-sweet orangey wooden barnyard taste with spicy mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel, kind of flat. Dry resiny wooden orangey aftertaste with sugary wooden barnyard notes. Nice, drinkable, mellow, and explosive. Open over the kitchen sink with two glasses handy, then enjoy. (0.75l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Slightly gushing bottle. Pours a cloudy light golden with a large and fluffy head. Aroma is lightly sour, with peppery and spicy notes. Taste is refreshingly tart with light clove notes and pale malts. Finishes dry with some notes of spice.

Very hazy yellow pour, foamy white head. Ended up being a gusher. Man this one tastes straight up like manure smells. Nothing different. Pretty funky and good!
