3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. Bottle looks like picture, but scans 2011 version and is bottled 9/2/13. Golden slight ly hazy color, good foam. Immediate hops and caramel; quite high viscosity and hop juice like. Also aromas of citrus and ok fruitiness- some vanuilla in the end. Medium/full body & high complexity. Some sweetness, but also nice bitterness.Enjoyable- but too much caramel and sweetness for my taste- but maybe a year on the bottle is way to much for this beer

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Greenville Beer exchange. Pours golden with a thin head. Has some lacing in the glass. Slight grapefruit on the nose. Bigger hop bitterness and grapefruit on the tongue. Finishes clean. I didn’t mean to age it. It would have been better fresher.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample @ Stockholm Beer & Whisky 2012. Pours hazy golden with a small frothy offwhite head that leaves some lacing and trace on the glass while slowly dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and slightly herbal with lemon hard candy, alcohol, lemon balm, dill, cookie dough, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest and hints of sweet bread. Taste is sweet, bitter, herbal and malty with sweet dark bread, caramel, alcohol, soap, dill, lemon balm, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest, grass, pine, lemon grass and hints of resinous wood. Mouthfeel is tiny sticky sweet, slightly astringent, slightly boozy and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with bread, orange and lemon peal, unripe mango, pine, grass, moist soil and resinous wood. Felt a bit all over the place. First Westbrook that left me disappointing.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle dated 19 June 2012 served in a snifter. Poured a murky, orange-amber color with essentially no head. Nonetheless, some lacing was left on the glass, The fruity nose foreshadows a flavor in which grapefruit, lemon, lime and other vague fruit flavors dominate, with some pine resin too. Plenty bitter, as expected, but the bitterness and harshness of a high ABV DIPA are both tempered by a detectable sweetness and some light maltiness.
O: A very drinkable DIPA, yet disappointing overall. Strong points are the mouthfeel where it does relatively well for a high ABV DIPA, and hoppy/fruitiness. A little overpriced; this local SC beer cost (about $8) as much or more than fine beers coming all the way from the West coast (e.g., many from Stone and Rogue).
