COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our double IPA collaboration with The Charleston Beer Exchange. Last year’s batch was a single-hopped Cascade double IPA brewed with 50 lbs of fresh grapefruit and was released on draft only. This year’s version (in our opinion) blows the first batch out of the water. The malt bill is simplified, resulting in a lighter, drier beer – which allows the massive hop additions to shine through. A mix of fresh grapefruit, lemons, limes, and oranges was added to the boil, and this batch also features a blend of several different American and New Zealand hop varieties, instead of just Cascade.

Bottle picked up at Five Point Liquors in Valdosta, Georgia. Aroma is extremely earthy, taste is nice, perhaps a little harsh. A dirty bitter end game to this beer…

What impressed me the most about this beer is how, regardless of other peoples’ evaluations of this beer, it thankfully tastes nothing like fresh grapefruit: rather, it compliments the ingredients so well that it just tastes like a really fresh version of a grapefruity, citrus hop variety. Coupling grapefruit with Cascade was a great idea. Bright in appearance, fresh, refreshing, and actually pretty respectable.

Bottle... Hazy, deeply golden ale with orange highlights and a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The aroma supplies loads of grapefruit - followed by leaner notes of cookie and toffee as I dig a little deeper. Full-bodied and oily with tingly carbonation. The flavor is enormously citrusy, providing big-time grapefruit meat, pith and rind. All this is accompanied by a gentle undercurrent of biscuity sweetness. Finishes bitter and grassy, then dry and tongue-numbing. Bottle courtesy of Elliesbrown!
