3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Clear, dark, reddy brown. Film of tan head. Chocolate malt. Roast grain. Hint of spice. A little vanilla. Taste is roast dry. A little dark chocolate sweetness. Smooth, fairly rich palate. Finish is lager yeast dry, with a little roast bitterness. Wasn’t sure at first, but I warmed to this one. Overall score marked down due the top dollar price tag...

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I’ve generally stopped buying beer in bombers, but this is Westbrook and their other beers earned this a go. Extremely dark. Flavors are basically a stout on lager yeast. Big roast. Almost a touch of ash. Good beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
65 cl bottle. Bottled on 22.10.2013.
Pours dark red, almost black color with a small head. Very malty on the nose, roasty, some wooden notes, dark chocolate and some faint smoky notes. Malty and roasty flavor also, dark chocolate, dried fruits, some faint hops. Very pleasant and balanced, yet another success from Westbrook. The half year age doesn’t really feel on this one. Nice.

650 ml bottle. Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of roastiness, cream, chocolate and some coffee. Rich flavour of roastiness, dark bitter chocolate, sour cream, bread and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied and very smooth mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Well done, tasty as hell.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark Brown. I’m a wee bit surprised by this one. Obviously the reference to Space Balls is excellent but I paid a lot of money for this bottle and it was a pretty underwhelming experience. I could have bought about 5 equally tasty Czech Tmavys for the same price. I’m surprised that Ratebeer backs up it’s lofty price with an impressive score. I might be being a bit unfair. It was after all, very nice but I’m awash with Tmavy’s here and this one is comparbale and by no mean spectacular.

2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Strange beer, 650ml bottled 12/10/12 which may be just a bit too old to give a fair chance, I’d be very interested to try this fresh. Pours dark brown with little head tastes like a mild/porter with a dash of macrolager. Plenty of roast malt, chocolate. It’s not a bad beer by any means.
