This is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “Gose-uh”), a traditional German-style sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt. Once nearly extinct, this very refreshing style is making a comeback.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2015 Piwo degustowane na Poznańskich Targach Piwnych 2015. Jasno złote, mętne. Aromat przypomina suszoną skórkę cytrynową z odrobiną kolendry i morskiej wody. W smaku lekka kwaskowość, odrobina chmielu i słono mineralny posmak na finiszu. Orzeźwiające i sesyjne.

Poured from a can dated 10/20/2015. Aroma has a light acidity with a bit of citrus. Light wheat and grain notes with medium light coriander. Pours a hazy, somewhat pale, yellow gold with a medium sized, moderateky thick, white head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where a small amount lingers for a little bit longer. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately acidic and more so than I expected from the aroma. Some light citrus, lemon and orange. Light grain notes with a moderate salt presence. Low bitterness. Light coriander notes. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice gose but perhaps a bit too much salt for my preferences. Balanced acidity with nice citrus notes and coriander though.

Can. Pours a slight hazy yellow body with a thin fizzy white head that was rather large, but faded quickly. The nose is briny and slightly sour with some cereal grains and wheat. The flavor is tart and quite salty with an earthy sourness. A little bit of an acidic burn as it makes its way down the throat. Light bodied and quite thirst quenching with a lingering salty and lemon rind finish. Pretty good stuff.

From can. Aroma of limey granny smith apple tartness and tannic oak, and a little foil metallic, slightest banana. Appears cloudy gold. Sour up front that is mellowed by a slightly noticable saltiness and sweetness. Overall, good.

Canned 7/1/15, drunk 10/22/15, a very nice bonus from Skrip!
Small, poorly-retained white head fizzles away to a ring of bubbles atop a golden-wax colored liquid with a good deal of carbonation and medium-high to high clarity.
Very mousey nose shows off quite a bit of lactic character, barnyard even and tons of celery salt-meets-lemon and creamy wheat. It certainly starts out very stark and I even thought there was a bit of metal, but as it breathes, this passes and it turns out to be just a ton of salt and lactic notes. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth, it’s heavily acidic up front, causing a bit of recoil, before a creamy effervescence washes over the palate, providing light honey and vanilla notes, light vegetal character from the herbs and interesting yeast character lingering. Definitely not just a straightforward, cookie cutter rendition and while the nose is a bit tough to warm up to, the near perfect amount of malt balance that follows the extreme tartness up front is really enjoyable, especially given the creamy texture. Would like to try a fresh bottle, my curiosity has been piqued. Some intangibles here doing work.
