This is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “Gose-uh”), a traditional German-style sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt. Once nearly extinct, this very refreshing style is making a comeback.

Bottled. An unclear dark yellow beer with a fast disappearing white head. The aroma has notes of wheat, lemons, salt, and coriander. The flavor is acidic with notes of salt, wheat, brettanomyces, straw, and hints of coriander, leading to a tart finish. Very refreshing.

Canned at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Cloudy yellow, small head. Distinct citric lactic nose. Tart with light body and firm, rounded mouthfeel. Lots of lemony sourness, some salt, no esters. Comparing to the original Ritterguts Gose this way more sour and less complex. A nice, intensr dsalty sour ale though.

Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, bottled 4/14/13
Hazy blond color with small head. Mild aroma, sourdough and lactic acid, light plastic. The mouthfeel is lean, very dry; light breadish flavor, quite sharp acidity for the style, more lemony than lactic, hiding the possible salt; it also has a very light breadish flavor. The final is also lightly astringent.
An aggressive example. Refreshing. But it could have some more complexity.

Bottle, 650ml. A clear pale golden beer with a small, white head. Lemon, some grassy, herbal hints and a touch of pale malts in the aroma. Lightly citric flavor, salty, with fruityness and a faint touch of pale malts. Medium to thin body, nice carbonation. Fruity, lemony finish with some herbal notes. Refreshing and tasteful, unusual but nice. 131018
