This is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “Gose-uh”), a traditional German-style sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt. Once nearly extinct, this very refreshing style is making a comeback.

Very refreshing. Pours hazy yellow with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is very wheaty with hints of coriander. The taste is a wonderful balance of sourness and wheat with the perfect amount of saltiness to accompany this refreshing brew. My first Westbrook ale and most definitely not my last. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Initial taste is tart pineapple. Then this beauty develops into a salty sour goodness, as stated (it does what it says). Presence is noticeable in the mouth. This an experience, from cracking the can to the bottom of the glass! Balanced well between tartness, sourness, saltiness and a bit of fruitiness!

Can dated 9/24/14 so canned about three weeks ago. Pour has a straw orange color with a thin coating of white head. Aroma has straw, mild tartness, dust, and mild salt. Mouth feel is light and the carbon on the low side. Flavor has more of a sour kick than expected, mild salt, lemony citrus, and some dampness in the finish.

Can at Westlakes Liquor. Pours clear straw colour with white head. Nose is all about the citric tartness. Sour citrus in there too. Taste has lively carbonation. Once again very acidic, salt is dominant. A real quaffer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Canned on 09/09/14. Pours a hazy golden grapefruit color witha nice milky-white head and notable lacing. Effervescent as well. Aroma is grapefruit, sour sweetness, touch of saltiness. Sour sweet, pink grapefruit sour sweetness. Surprising balance to the sweetness. Not just purely sweet. The only sour I’ve tried that I really like. Bubbly and sour, and just so effervescent. This is basically like sparkling soda. Although this isn’t really MY style of beer, I respect its quality for what it is.

Location: 12 oz can from Syosset, 10/10/14, 9/9/14 date

Aroma: The nose is sour and salty, tart lemon/citric component, spice, and some dough/ wheat bread
Appearance: It pours a murky looking yellow (almost mimosa like) color without much head/lace
Flavor: The taste is tart and refreshing, lemony, nicely balanced by the salt and spice flavors
Palate: The body is medium, very nice mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation, and a long, rather tart finish
Overall Impression: I really enjoyed this when I had it at Where the Wild Beers Are (6/7/14), and since I picked up this can before I had a chance to enter that rating, and since the scores are right in-line with each other, I’ll just keep it to the one rating. This is a great Gose. One of the best I’ve tried.

Can: Poured a light yellowish color Gose with a nice pure white foamy head. Aroma of tart notes with light salty notes also discernable. Taste is a mxi between some tart and sour notes with a salty finish and limited coriander notes. Body is light with good carbonation. I had really high expectation considering all the noise this one is making but I thought it was an OK version of the style at the end of the day.

Can. Pours hazy golden with some off white head. Nose has wheat, lemon and some herbal notes. Taste is tart, lemon juice, some light salty notes. A bit more tart than other Goses but really really good anyways!
