This is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “Gose-uh”), a traditional German-style sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt. Once nearly extinct, this very refreshing style is making a comeback.

Very refreshing. Pours hazy yellow with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is very wheaty with hints of coriander. The taste is a wonderful balance of sourness and wheat with the perfect amount of saltiness to accompany this refreshing brew. My first Westbrook ale and most definitely not my last. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

canned version, about year ago.
No surprise for me, I enjoyed it, reminded me of juice from fermented/salted cabbage. Light body, refreshing. Tartness was not harsh. Dry finish.

330ml can. Golden yellow colour. Medium white head, which changes into thin layer of froth on top. Acidic, fruity, earthy, slightly salty aroma. Acidic beginning. Raw gooseberries, acidity, citrusses in the middle. Slightly salty, vinegary, bit fruity finish. Light bodied, nicely balanced, buttery, acidic palate. Very good, refreshing brew.

Beer at FOB with friends. Color is a slightly pale blond. Aroma is similar to spontaneous fermentation beer, with some salt smell. Taste is obviously salty, with a nice dry finish. Nice hose.

12 fl oz can at home in Richmond, as ’Westbrook Gose’, 4%. Hazy golden orange, almost cloudy, lightly sparkling, diminishing white head. Aroma has lots of green grape and lime, some apricot, something a bit like talc. Body is light, spritzy carbonation, quite smooth. Taste is tart gooseberry, lightly acidic and salty, a touch buttery, souring melon. I was expecting something over-the-top, but it’s quite restrained and (from my limited experience) authentic-seeming. Very refreshing.

Can. Cloudy pale yellow. Faint sour aroma. Light body with a thin quick grain middle then dissolves to a sour tart end with a tinge of salt. Very refreshing. Great session beer, good in summer.
