A base of pale, Munich, and Carapils malts is just enough to contain the massive hop flavor and aroma packed into this highly drinkable IPA. A blend of four American hop varieties is added four times in the kettle and twice in the fermenter for a complex and layered hop experience. Best served at 45-50˚F in a tulip or English style pint glass.

This stuff is OK. I would say it is sort of in the style of a midwest IPA like Two Hearted or something like that as it is rather on the sweet side. It has a nice head and great lacing but it is really too cloudy to be ideal for an IPA. I have heard people talk of particular hops smelling like onions and have thankfully never been sensitive to that particular aroma but whatever hops they are must be whatever Westbrook used in this as I am definitely getting it here. It is actually not altogether unappealing but I would prefer the focus be more on the faint lavender note in the background. As I mentioned, this is on the sweeter side for an IPA but not quite stick and so still drinkable w/ its medium carbonation. Flavor doesnít have much to offer beyond the aroma but I guess the sweetness brings out a bit of citrus. It finishes w/ a strong resinous bitterness. Really, this serves itís purpose as a strong hoppy beer reasonably well but I donít really think it is notable in any regard. I, and I think most people, prefer IPAs w/ a vibrant, fresh fruity hop character and this really doesnít deliver anything like that at all.

12oz can from Total Wine in Greenville, S.C. compliments of Zizzybalubba (Thanks Playa!) Light orange hue, murky clarity with mostly lasting 1 finger thick white frothy head. Okay lacing, sediment floating around the bottom. (Maybe this is normal for this beer?) Strong grapefruit, lemon, grass, summer, citrus hop, light malt as the beer warms. Light grapefruit up front with a light citrus finish, but you get more malt as the beer warms on the finish. Crisp, oily, light carbonation on the palate. Straight forward, solid, refreshing IPA. Westbrook does it again!!!

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy amber to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing coating the sides of the glass nicely. The smell had a nice spicy yet also a bitter citrus hops overpowering some light malts that maintain their sweetness in the background. The taste was mainly sweet and spicy that lead into the same aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. I would say that this was fairly sessionable with a nice sharp carbonation pounding my tongue into submission. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA well worthy of having again.

Color is a hazy yellow (looks like a Belgian ale/tripel almost) with a small head. Very good IPA this, bursting with flavor. Lots of grapefruit, some pine, some caramel malt sweetness to it. Flavor is big grapefruit, some maltiness to it as well. Complex, but well balanced. One of the better IPAs Iíve had.

On tap at The Local Pub, Athens Greece. Orange copper color with a thin white head. Aromas of pine and grass. Taste was sweet at first with caramel, pine and grass coming next, followed by some more exotic fruits. Nice aftertaste, bitterweet, sticky mouthfeel. Medium body with low carbonation.

Pours copper with a dense white head. Citrus, pine, and resinous aromas. The flavor is well balanced with some malty sweetness and moderate to high hop bitterness. Lemon, grapefruit, pine, and floral notes. Medium body with a semi-dry finish.
