COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rarely seen German beer style, Lichtenhainer is a sour wheat beer brewed with 40% beechwood smoked malt. Tart and refreshing with an intriguing bacon/ham aroma.

650ml bottle. Murky orange shade. Fleeting head. Aroma is a real interesting clash of citrus and smoky flavours. Waxy, gummy, fruit rind taste. Not so much smoke here. Carb helps it along but still a bit tough to work through. On the whole a fair success, as it all seems to work.

Bottle from Gulating Lørenskog enjoyed at home
Golden, thin white head that falls down quite fast. Smell of smoked wood, hints of bacon, some tart yoghurt, light malts. Light sweet, quite sour, medium i would say. Lemon, lactic acids, smoke, wood, quite complex. Light bitter finish. Very nice, the lactic acids and smoke works well together

Bottle. Courtisy of plovmand. Aroma of smoke, fruit, apple, citrus, smoked paprika. The flavour starts sweet but finish dry and sour with a lingering sourness and smoke aroma. Amazing Combonation. Medium body and the texture is juicy. A surprisingly good beer. Balanced and enjoyable.
