Bottled on: FEB 13, 2012. Sutil y equilibrada. Cervezón.

Bottle @ home, picked up for $8 at Supermarket Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a hazy dark orange appearance with an off white tan head. Some burnt wood in the nose along with light meat, lemon, and some twang. Moderately sour. Light body. Low sweetness and bitterness. The flavor is sour lemon, baked ham, earth, and vanilla. Kind of interesting, but I don’t think I could drink a whole bottle.

Bomber bottled on January 15, 2015, purchased from Mile High. This beer is a light golden color with a significant haze to it. A small white head forms and quickly fades away. The aroma is fantastic. It’s mildly smoky with a solid bacon character in the background. Sour notes are up front reminiscent of vinaigrette and muscadines. No hop presence to speak of. I take a few sips and realize this is pretty sour. Not brutal, but definitely sour. Noticeable acidity lingers on my lips after each sip. The flavor has an almost fruity character to it with a complex backdrop of subtle, but really tasty smoked malt. This is much more sour than it is smoky, but it is tasty in the same general way that barbecue is so damn delicious. Smoky umami flavors are accented by tartness. I preferred this more direct take on the style than their Brett Lichtenhainer. This is a little less busy but pleasantly complex, well balanced and unique. I love this stuff. I’m gonna go buy some more bottles.

4oz pour at the brewery pours a hazy gold with creamy white head. Nose has grass, vitamin C, mild smoke, wheat chaff, some lemon. Flavor follows, a bit smokier, heavy lemon, wheaty, lactic, Vitamin C. Tart finish. A bit peppery.

Bomber from Wilbur’s. Appearance: slight white head, oklacing, straw, cloudy. Aroma: smokey pine, citrus, light funky yeast, fruity banana. Palate: light body, soft carbonation, dry finish, oily texture. Taste: smoked sweentness into funky sour sweet fruit, with smoke permeating through, ends with a smokey fruit. Overall, Very unique... but I can not say much more positive about it. Too smokey, smoke and sour do not mix. Maybe fits the style, but does not make it good still in my opinion.

Light body; light breadish flavor, delicate smoke, lactic acid, with a bit of astringency.
Wow!

650ml bottle. Gusher needing a quick pour! Hazy yellow colour, very fizzy white foam head that quickly disappears and aroma of smoke, meaty, wheat, sour, brett notes. Taste is smokey, bacon, light malt, wheat, sweet & sour, lemon, citrus rind. Fizzy & slightly slick mouthfeel, light bodied with high carbonation, dry tart finish. Refreshing, very drinkable.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2013 Bottle: thanks, Mike! Dark golden body, so close to 100% opacity, white foamy collar around the edges. Aroma is like half Berliner, half smoked beer. Sweet, peaty smoke and some sour grainy lemon and wheat notes. Meaty smoke grows with time... Kind of sweet. Taste is heavy smoke; peat, meat, and almost a bacon-like character with some campfire char to it. Undertones of tart lemon, lacto tartness that hits the back end of the tongue, and mild grain. Weird lemon and smoke mix, but I kind of dig it. Lightly sweet and tart.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy smoke, bacon, and a hint of plastic. It pours a mostly transparent yellow with just a touch of haze. It has a large white head with decent retention before fading to a thin film. The flavor starts with light-moderate smoke, bacon, and a touch of plastic. The finish has moderate sour lemon. It’s light bodied with lively carbonation that can be a tad prickly at times.
