22 oz bottle with a bottled on date of 18 Sept. 2012 poured into a Sam Adams lager glass at about 42F. Pours a medium orange-amber color with a bubbly tan head that has moderate retention and leave spotty lacing. Clear with lots of bubbles.Smells pleasantly malty with spicy hop tones and hints of citrus fruit and baked bread. The flavor largely follows, The initial sweet malt flavor is soon followed by bitter earthy and spicy noble hops that eventually dominate the malts, then leave a mildly bitter and slightly nutty aftertaste. Medium-bodied with good carbonation and a semi-dry finish.
O – A decent Oktoberfest beer, although a bit more hoppy and less refined and drinkable than usual or ideal for this style.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Poured amber with a medium-sized off-white, dense head. Aroma and flavor were moderately malty, a hint of fruit, smoke, and rye spice (I know, that shouldn’t make sense). Mildly bitter -- ah ha! that’s the spicy note, the German hops. Medium weight. Very drinkable, substantial flavor for an oktoberfest.
