4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz bottle. Enjoyed the morning of our house settlement selling with a chunk of brie, one last beautiful morning on our deck. Dark brown with a puffed tan head. Smell is cocoa, cinnamon, chili, molasses, coffee bean and smoky raisin. Quite the nosefull. Medium to full body with a fuzzy tang; the spicy heat hits mid-tongue and then the back of the throat. Taste is dark chocolate, mexican espresso, cinnamon and green chilis. Finishes with toasted marshmallow. Perhaps not quite the richness of Hunahpu. Great stuff!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle, tasted at GreatMoloko’s place. Black color. Thin brown head. Some loose bits of lace. Good chocolate, coffee in the nose. In the flavor, some vanilla comes out. Nice pepper kick at the end. Good chewy thicker texture, nice chewiness. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Moderate sweet, moderate bitter taste - some earthy hop. Good light pepper kick. Solid, interesting, tasty well done pepper stout. 8/4/7/4/15

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber to snifter (2014 vintage; shared by jmborggren). Looks good; an opaque dull black with foamy beige head. Smells good too; dark malt, chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla with a nice pepper balance. Tastes like it smells with a smooth but peppery mouthfeel. Awesome balance. Great beer!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours black with a small dense brown head. Aroma is milk chocolate, dusty cocoa, roasted coffee, cinnamon and spicy habanero. Taste is sweet and bitter chocolate, cinnamon, the habanero goes from almost unnoticeable to distinct as it warms up, still not too much. Finish is dry spicy chocolate with chili heat. Medium/full body, average carbonation.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 1 thanks to Hector. Pours a very dark brown with small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong peppers, dark chocolate, wood, and roast. Medium mouthfeel with nice spice, strong roasted chocolate and light bitter finish. Very impressive.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pour from a bottle is a nice black with a tan head. Aroma has hints of chocolate and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Taste is nice and bittersweet from the chocolate with a smooth vanilla. I also get a bite from the habanero peppers.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bomber courtesy of Homer321 pours with a deep dark body that supports a dark mocha colored head. The aroma pulses with chocolate, sweet malts, more chocolate, some dates, fruity chili pepper meat, some cinnamon and a dash of fruit cake. The taste starts with a pleasing and rich load of chocolate goodness and then it rolls into cinnamon spices, yum. To midway a nice full chili pepper note shines through the chocolate and leads to a modest chili pepper burn and warming. The delicious chocolate runs from front to back and delivers rich happiness all along the way. Love it.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle, again huge thanks to Doug for the share! Velvety black pour, small, thin light brown head. Nose and flavor are stunning, with cinnamon and cacao coming through up front along with bright, showy espresso character and bitter chocolate folding inward. Later in the flavor the touches of peppery heat hit, but they are stunningly balanced by waves of vanilla, almond and chocolate ganache. Absolutely reminiscent of regular Abraxas and Bomb. Stellar.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I have been looking forward to this one for a long time and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Black pour with a brown head. The aroma is just amazing. I get some big chocolate and cinnamon notes that really stand out and make this stout unique. The flavor is just as good if not better. The chocolate and cinnamon notes are once again present, as is a big splash of vanilla. The best part of the beer might be the peppers, which add not only a bit to the flavor, but also a nice amount of heat that complements the other flavors, rather than overwhelming them like a lot of the crappy pepper beers do. I love mole chicken and a lot of the notes I get in that dish are present in this beer, which is simply outstanding. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Definitely one of my top beers of 2014 and one I hope I get to try again in the future.
