Happy birthday to us! To celebrate our first year as a brewery we brewed a serious imperial stout and aged it on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and fresh habanero peppers. This is the first offering in our annual Anniversary series. Here’s to many more!

Bomber shared by one of my generous buddies. First of all, this beer is awesome. Second of all, how is this not listed as a spice beer on this site? I don’t like cinnamon unless it is used with peppers, evidently. This beer is a wonderful example of those two flavors working in harmony. The malt body gives a very nice roast and full palate. Cinnamon is defined and natural, but not the main focus. It is overtaken by delightful cacao and dark malts. I didn’t even know vanilla was used in this, it doesn’t stand out much. The heat is pleasant, but I could definitely use more. The beer as a whole is very harmonious and a highly enjoyable sipper.

Unique smell and taste. Nice long-lasting chili burn. The cake name makes great sense. Perfect.

75cl bottle, shared with friends. Bottled a week ago, so definitely incredible to get this that fresh in Europe. Pours black with a nice tan head, looks very good. Aromas of chocolate, caramel and some chilli is already detected. Very complex flavour: coffee, chocolate, vanilla sweetness...all backed up by the habanero peppers, without hiding any other flavour. Pleasantly warm and slightly bitter on the palate. Full body, good carbonation. Exquisite, nothing more, nothing less.

On tap at BGH. Amazing how the spice is balanced with the smoothness of the stout. Really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at A la Biere. Deep black with a thick tan head.  Mexican cake is chili and cinnamon intertwined on a bed of rich chocolate. Prickly spicy heat this shit is good but for me a small dose is enough.

The aroma is full of cocoa nibs, vanilla, cinnamon and coffee. The color is pitch black. The taste is full of cocoa nibs, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee and chilies. The finish is long and strong because of the habanero. My tongue is burning. Nice beer!

Bottle via "little" Matt, shared with Lubiere. Dark brown with a dark mocha creamy head. Roasted chocolate malt, cinnamon, lactose, light vanilla, some vegetable and light heat peppers (which build towards a nicely balanced heat finish), agave, some oak, full body and mild carbonation, smooth and nicely balanced throughout, enjoyable and delicious.
