COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Happy birthday to us! To celebrate our first year as a brewery we brewed a serious imperial stout and aged it on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and fresh habanero peppers. This is the first offering in our annual Anniversary series. Here’s to many more!

Bottle. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of dark grains, chocolate and cinnamon with a bit of backing pepper bite. Flavor begins with dark chocolate and roasted malts with a good amount of pepper that grows through the finish with a hint of cinnamon.

growler. Black ink w/ brown head. Smells like malty warmth, maybe some peppers. It’s a tasty yet undefined mix of chocolate vanilla coffee flavored w/ cinnamon and mild peppers. The pepper heat doesn’t really build, esp. for habs. Thanks Westbrook for the fun first year!

Bottle from Sam - thanks! Black pour with an exceptionally dark and sinister expresso colored head that quickly reduces to a slick and a ring of foam on the edges of the glass. Nice ebb of carbonation. Aroma is basically chocolate cake batter that is heavy on the chocolate/cocoa with sweetness from the vanilla followed by slight cinnamon. There may be a bit of pepper heat on the very end but it is hard to pick it out. Taste is very sweet with the chocolate and cocoa dominating and thick vanilla. I do get some of the pepper heat on the finish and there is some cinnamon as well. There is also a definite dark fruit presence in the finish as well. Mouthfeel is thick and clumsy but within the average range for the style. Awesome idea and I think they pulled it off reasonably well but the beer is a bit too muddled and lacking definition to really get me fired up. I’d probably like it more if there was a more noticeable roast character to break up or cut through the sweetness.

Incredible taste going on. 10.5%. So smooth. Little spice but sweet like cake as well. On tap, pours dark with little to no head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a dark brown, almost black color, aromas of cinnamon, pepper, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Flavors are chocolate covered peppers, vanilla, a touch of smoke, vanilla, and cake. This was not as thick as I was hoping for, but a real nice beer overall. Would be interesting to see how this beer ages overall.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2012 Draft at mellow mushroom. Actually a lot like victory at sea but better vanilla blended. Very roasty. Sweet finish, alcohol warming. Delicious beer.

Pours black with a medium micha head...nice lacing and retention. Aroma has slght dark fruit, mild vanilla and cocoa, very faint cinnamon. Flavor is sweet with coffee notes and a hint of cinnamon...cocoa and vanilla are present but take a back seat...nice mild heat very late...very tasty! Mouthfeel is full and very creamy with a roasty sweet finish that has coffee and habanero heat. Awesome.

Thanks to brewkkake for sharing. The nose was not in your face but you definitely get the cacao, vanilla and peppers. The taste provides even more of the same with roasted malts. A little thin in body. The closest thing to Hunahpu’s that isn’t itself Hunahpu’s. Pleasantly surprised by this one.
