4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Truly a remarkable beer. Nose gives apple, cinnamon spice, some cocoa. Taste follows suit, but has a really excellent meshing of the apple character with the spice notes and the chocolate sweetness isn’t overwhelmingly rich to take those flavors to the background. Somehow manages to not taste boozy at all, and the apple flavor comes extremely naturally rather than tasting like flavored alcohol. I wouldn’t say this is as good a pure stout as AB Hunahpu, probably because the base beer isn’t in the same realm of awesomeness, but it’s got a flavor profile that really differentiates itself. Extremely grateful to have had a nice large glass of this.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London. Another big thanks to Paul for this one. Pours thick black with a creamy, deep beige head. Nose of dark chocolate, coconut, a bit of vanilla. Medium to big sweet flavor with decent chili pepper heat, more rich chocolate and coconut, soft burnt wood, raisins. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Warming finish, some lingering chili heat, definitely some Mounds bar, a bit of vanilla toffee. Superlative stuff.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared with GM
Appearance: Opaque black with short lasting dark brown head
Aroma: Intense cocoa... pretty much same as Cab version
Taste: Chocolate, apples
Palate: Again, extremely thick/heavy mouthfeel, slightly more so than the Cab. No pepper heat on this one.
Overall: The apple brandy add to an already extremely sweet beer, making this dessert wine sweet. The apple flavor is more subtle, but there. Get a friend or two to share your bottle with ’cause this sucker is BIG.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, 08/20/2013. Pours thick black, thin dark tan head fades to elaborate swirls on the surface, legs of lacing left behind. Aroma is fantastic- apple brandy, cinnamon vanilla graham cracker, brown sugar, smooth chocolate and rich coffee. Taste is chocolate, chili heat, vanilla and cinnamon, sweet brandy barrel notes lingering. Thick body, creamy and chewy. Great.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pretty much a black pour with a brown head. Fun to try all three BA versions. The apple brandy is a nice addition to the chili, chocolate, spice. Its sweet but has a nice toasty backbone that stops this from getting too sweet.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at Bruce’s pad, huge huge big ups to Paolo for supplying this hat trick of goodness, 19/09/13.
Pitch black with a thin dirty tan covering.
Nose is rich dark chocolate, roast malt, lightly singed sugars, dark fruit cake mix, light boozey waft.
Taste comprises roasted malts, dark toffee, good hint of spice, decadent chocolate, light brandified boozeness, subtle chilli kick, toffee apple.
Full bodied, soft carbonation, smooth smooth stuff a treat to behold on the palate.
Top draw, balanced, well integrated alcohol, this was the pick of the triumvirate for me !

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Big thanks to DocJ007 for sharing this bottle with us during our ugly sweater christmas party tasting. Served with some actual Mexican cake just because...
A - Pours ink black with a small half finger tall tan head, quickly dissipating down to a light film that dissolves into nothing at all. Leaves little to no lace on the glass.
S - Smells of strong sweetness - mainly chocolate, vanilla and apples from the brandy - quickly giving way to mild chili heat, oak, dark fruits and the dark roasted grain. Quite nice, maybe a little barrel heavy.
T - Starts off with a mix of smooth chocolate fudge, vanilla beans and warm apple brandy quickly being joined by the mild chili heat, dark fruit, dry oak and the dark roasted grains. Finish is sweet with some light heat, clinging to the palate long after the finish. Every bit as good as the nose lead me to believe.
M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Big, roasty feel with some booze creeping in at the end of each sip. Probably the weakest part of this one.
O - I really liked this version. We drank this right after a Cali Brandy Hunahpu’s and this was definitely better IMO. Not sure if this or the Jack Daniels was my favorite, I think I would lean JD, but I would love to have this again in the future. Thanks for the share Justin!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
19th September 2013
The Last Tasting at Bruce’s palatial pad. Opaque dark black - brown beer with a good pale tan heaThanks to Paulio for this beast. Palate is smooth and light and a little airy. Good dark chocolate here with just a touch of coconut. Spicy apple brandy that blends well with the dark malt and the chilli. Finishes smooth and soft with a light chilli linger. Lovely.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12/II/14 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle as "Apple-Brandy barrel" @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - bottled: 6/VI/13 or VI/6/13 (2014-186) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: earthy start, woody notes, caramel, tobacco, some dried fruits, subtle notes of green apple peel, alcohol, "thick" sweet small, can I call it molasses? Also lots of vanilla and caramel, crème brûlée on warming up. MF: soft to no carbon, full body. Taste: sweet and sugary start, then caramel, pretty sour touch, chocolate, hot chillies, sour green apple skin, alcohol burn. Aftertaste: chocolate, caramel ,vanilla, pretty sour in the throat as well, more alcohol, soft bitterness and hot chillies. Good, but I preferred the Jack Daniels version, seemed stronger and more complex as well to me.
