Bottle at Himmeriget. Pours opaque black with minimal brown head. Aroma is cinnamon, coconut, caramel, milk chocolate. Taste is cinnamon heavy, cocoa, red fruit tart is minute but present, caramel sweet, hint of chilli heat. Medium-full body with a lacing oily feel.

Bottle thanks to Minh. Pours black with small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is chocolate, roast, peppers, vanilla, grape, wood. Medium mouth, vinous, chocolate, roast, dark fruit, light spice in finish, my favorite of the 13’ BAs.

Bottle shared@Himmeriget, Copenhagen - pours black with a tan head. Aroma and taste is roasted malty with chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, wooden notes with some lovely vinous Cabernet red wine coming in along with the chilli heat giving some additional light red grape acidity, light tannin, overall another great barrel variant of the base brew.

Bottle @ Himmeriget. Pours oily black with a small mocha head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass. Smell is malty, fruity and spicy with roasted malts, cramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, moist wood, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, cinnamon, smoked chilis, dark grapes, dried bilberries, leather, moist soil and aerated red wine. Taste is sweet, bitter, very tiny sour, malty, fruity and slightly spicy. Mouthfeel is soft, round, oily, tiny astringent, tiny boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, spices and complex leathery red wine. Amazing barrel treatment on a great base beer. The red wine character marries perfectly with the base. something I did not expect. Another amazing act of craftsmanship by Westbrook.

650ml bottle enjoyed @ Himmeriget. Pours pitch black with a nice dark brown head. Aroma is cinnamon, chili, oak, roasted malt, vanilla, very woody, earthy, chocolate and slightly fruity. Taste medium bitter, medium sweet and a little tart. Full bodied, oilyish texture, soft carbonation. Finish is lots of tannins, chili and woody.

Bottle @ Himmeriget. Pitch black pour with a dark tan head. Notes of musty wood, bitter vinous, tons of spice, cinnamon, chillies and some bitter chocolate.

Bottle @ Himmeriget. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of cinnamon, chocolate, oak, vanilla, brown sugar and weak vinous notes. Generally the barrel hides a lot of the original aromas but this smells pretty good anyway. The taste has some vinous barrel notes with lots of tannins. Also some chocolate, roasted malts, weak spice, vanilla and a tad more alcoholic than other versions I’ve had. Still a freaking good beer ofc. but also one of my least favorite barrels - this tells you how much I love this beer haha.

Bottle @ Himmeriget, Copenhagen. Pours pitch black with a small mocha head. Aromas of chilies, cinnamon, cocoa, dry dark chocolate, subtle wine tartness but a pretty serious grapey and boozy wine character. Taste is cinnamon up front, dry dark chocolate, dry vinous characters, light tartness aswell, oaky sweet, chillies, red grapes, woody dry finish. Obviously a very nice brew but the red wine somehow isn’t for me along with the spices. At least not that much.

Bottle... This beer rocks! Pours Zhukov-black and dense with a small, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. The aroma is a lovely marriage of hot, melted fudge with some serious red wine booziness. Full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. This beer is all about deliciousness - graham, dark chocolate, cinnamon, chili pepper and mild warmth with a modest ration of red grape skin acidity. Lightly tart, chocolaty finish with lingering notes of graham and vinous acidity. Thinner than the other Mexican Cake treatments and the base beer itself – also a treatment of sorts. So very delicious nonetheless. Kudos to landhoney for sharing this world class brew with the south Florida crew!
