12/II/14 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle as "Red Wine barrel" @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - bottled: 6/VI/13 or VI/6/13 (2014-187) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: pretty fruity notes, some citrus, bit dusty, alcohol, raisins and other dried fruits, toast, molasses, bit spicy, vanilla touch though very soft compared to the other two versions, bit "chalky". MF: soft to no carbon, full body. Taste: hot chillies, bit sweet and sugary, pretty sour, puckering I dare say, some dark chocolate, caramel. Aftertaste: more cocoa powder and dark chocolate, pretty bitter, sour touch, hot chillies, soft alcohol burn, some red wine tannins but luckily not too much.

Thanks Bobochamp! Oily black colour, soft carbonation. Well balanced beer. Aroma of roasted malts with hints of vanilla and cocoa. Aftertaste of red wine. Light hint of sourness. Light peppery finish.

Bottle generously shared by Will Whitt at Busy Bee ~ 2am post raleigh rare bottle share. Thanks bro! This was really nice and probably my favorite of the two Mex cake treatments he shared, though both were tasty! I really enjoyed the vinous character the Cabernet barrel adds to this already complex and tasty impy. Now if I can only track down that damn apple brandy barrel!

65cl, as Mexican Cake ’Red Wine Barrel Aged’, new exclusive American brew Anno 2013, with cacao, vanilla, cinnamon and chili peppers, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex spicy Stout, roasted/vinous and slightly alcoholic/spicy, heavy, yet balanced, cloudy, small head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Wow ! Pours a rich deep burnt umber color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is big and beautiful with great vinous fruit, fudgy chocolate cake, cinnamon, coconut and vanilla bean. The palate follows the nose but teh coconut presence is unreal. Beautiful round coconut layered chocolate, integrated cinnamon and chili spice... trace of vinous acidity on the back end of the smooth coconut notes. This beer is unbelievable... WOW !

Courtesy of JBoan, thanks! The bottle pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma is straight up coconut and chocolate cake as well as a mild degree of earthy chili vegetable meat. Smells of pure yum. The taste is rich and smooth and balanced and yummers. It delivers dark roasted malts, chocolate notes, coconut and then smooth chili meat to go along with a moderate tasty chili pepper spice warming. Wow! Love it.

Mexican Cake Supertrade Series Beer with jrob21, Westmeister, and deadCATAtlanta Beer #6. Spice seems to hold a little longer than the other varietals. Cabernet barrels definitely add a touch of grape to the flavor mix. Bottle - Westbrook Brewery - Mount Pleasant, SC

Thanks to deadcatlanta for making the treck down and bringing this set back. This is my second favorite of the three barrel aged beers. Shared on a long Saturday afternoon with the crew. Grape aroma finds its way through the roasty bittersweet coffee. Spice is still working but a little muted from the added treatment. A subtle grape flavor before the rest of the stout comes in. Probably the most subtle barrel treatment but it is still pretty noticeable and also works pretty well.

Black, dark brown head. Nose is spices, cinammon, chocolate, wine. Taste is incredibly well blended chocolate, cinammon, dark fruits, vinous barrel notes. Full, sticky body.

Big thanks to DocJ007 for sharing this one with us.

A - Pours black with a nice one finger tall tan head, dissipating down to next to nothing, leaving small streaks of lace down the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of lots of vinous wine, oak, peppers, chocolate, vanilla and dark roasted malt. The red wine is pretty strong but it isn’t out of control.

T - Starts off with a mix of base flavors like chocolate, vanilla and peppers but that quickly becomes enveloped by the strong vinous wine flavors that never really fade away from then on. Finish is a mix of dark roast, mild sweetness and vinous oak tannins combine to linger on the palate long after the finish.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Sweet, heavy feel with plenty of vinous tannins lurking in its depths.

O - I enjoyed this one, just not as much as the JD version. I have come to like wine BA stouts and this one certainly had plenty to offer. I think it works well but it also overpowers most of the base flavors a bit too much for my liking. Still an awesome beer none the less.
