COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Happy birthday to us! To celebrate our first year as a brewery we brewed a serious imperial stout and aged it on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and fresh habanero peppers. This is the first offering in our annual Anniversary series. Here’s to many more!

On tap at The Lodge on Hilton Head. Black pour with a brown head leaving quite a bit of lacing. Aroma has big chocolate, cinnamon, light chiles. Taste is of sweet caramel, cocoa, cinnamon, some tangy chiles, some bakers chocolate. Quite smooth and the blend is terrific - the sweetness of the caramel, cocoa and cinnamon with the tangy of the chiles and cinnamon, and the bitterness of the chocolate really supplied a lot of differences. Full bodied with some alcohol presence. Finishes fairly sweet, with some tanginess. Excellent! 16.7

Black color. Cacao aromas, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel. Taste is sweet from the vanilla, but the habanero makes itself known quickly and dominates for the remainder of the tasting. The habanero makes it a bit unbalanced, lingering burn during the finish. Cool Imperial Stout.

Bottle from Michael (misterburd) -- cheers, buddy! Even from just watching it pour I could see that this was going to be one slick beer. It’s got a truly incredible mouthfeel -- it’s chewy and very, very thick, but it manages to not be sweet at all. The habaneros start subtle, allowing chocolate to dominate, but after about 10 seconds there’s a great light spiciness that finishes everything off. This is so legit.

From a bottle. Pours very dark brown with a thick, brown head. Tastes like chocolate, cinnamon, smooth booze, pepper, and woody malt. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like rich chocolate, cinnamon, creamy, boozy, pepper, and woody malt.

22 oz. bottle from Wine 101, Raleigh (generously shared by my friend Steven). Pours black with a creamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and faint peppers. Taste is wonderful with cocoa, vanilla, and cinnamon very present. As expected, the habanero doesn’t make its presence known at first but manages to creep up with each sip. This amplifies the alcohol in terms of warmth. An excellent beer even though spicy beers are not typically my thing.

On tap at What’s Brewing 2015, day 1. Black body with a small tanned head. Aroma is strong malty with cocoa, vanilla, spicy, bodt christmas spicy and hot. Taste is massive, dark chocolate, vanilla, spicy, nice notable but not overshadowing habanero sting. Exceptional complexity, a great great beer!
