12/II/14 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle as "Bourbon barrel" @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - bottled: 6/VI/13 or VI/6/13 (2014-185) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, no head, just a few bubbles floating atop the beer. Aroma: oh my, the vanilla is big on this one! But other stuff as well, bourbon, alcohol, caramel, fudge, brownie, lots of dried fruits, dark chocolate, ginger bread (actually more like "peperkoek" for the Dutchies) probably because of the cinnamon, but it’s more spicy and complex than just cinnamon. MF: nice soft carbon, full body. Taste: immediate hot burn from the peppers on the tongue, lots of peperkoek (ginger bread), pretty sweet and malty, molasses, chocolate (both milk and dark), vanilla, spices. Aftertaste: more ginger bread ("couque de Dinant"), cinnamon, spices, hot pepper, chocolate, some mocha, caramel. Holy bimbam, this is good stuff!!!

Bottle shared by WW late night @ Busy Bee post RRBS. Thanks WW! This was also very nice. I think I might these ba mexican cakes a little more than ba versions of CC Hunahpu as they are very similar type beers, but the barrels just tend to lend their services better to MC for whatever reason. Yum.

Thanks Bobochamp! Oily black appearance, no foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts and vanilla, also fruity and hints of cocoa. Complex beer, full body. Red peppers in the aftertaste together with the bourbon. Boozy beer, the sweetness is a bit too overwhelming.

65cl, as Mexican Cake ’Bourbon Barrel Aged’, new exclusive American brew Anno 2013, with cacao, vanilla, cinnamon and chili peppers, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex spicy Stout, roasted/alcoholic and slightly spicy/sweet, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, small head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Mexican Cake Supertrade Series Beer with jrob21, Westmeister, and deadCATAtlanta Beer #3. Best of the barrel aged series in my opinion. Pours a very dark brown with tan head. Thick bodied. Chocolate, spice, and booze are all over the nose. Sweet to spicy ratio is beautifully balanced by bourbon barreling. Bottle - Westbrook Brewery - Charleston, SC

Shoutout to deadcatlanta and the Saturday afternoon drinking crew for the chance to try this. Definitely my favorite treatment and one of my favorite beers in a long long time. Maybe its the familiarity of the Jack Daniels or the bourbon but everything is coming together well and complementing each other in the best possible way here. The spice creeps and the bourbon and vanilla and wood all come through in pretty good balance.

Big thanks to DocJ007 for sharing this one with all of us.

A - Pours pitch black with a small one finger tall tan head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving small patches of lace down the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of vanilla, milk chocolate, coconut, cinnamon, oak, bit of peppery spice, dark roasted malts and some smooth whiskey warmth. Everything is there, it just took a little while to get going.

T - Starts off with a beautiful mix of chocolate, vanilla and caramel sweetness combining with some peppery heat and warming whiskey to make an awesome flavor profile. Finish is a mix of roast, light sweetness and some booze burn, lingering long after the finish.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, sticky feel from start to finish. A bit of burn from the chillies and booze keep me coming back for more.

O - I prefer this one to the Wine barrel, and I haven’t had the pleasure of trying the Brandy yet. The whiskey is well integrated and doesn’t overpower the other key base flavors. One of the better beers I have had in recent memory. Can’t wait to try that Brandy version.

Bottle: thanks, Brian! Black, oily, thick, with a deep tan head that plumes up slowly & fades out rather quickly. Aroma is enormous; huge cinnamon, graham cracker, vanilla, sweet cocoa, caramel covered cherries, brown sugar, very light boozy aspect. Some coconut. Reminds me of liquid Cinnamon Toast Crunch with notes of caramel cherries & Almond Joy. Sweet, delicate, outstanding. Taste is very smooth & sweet with notes of vanilla, more Cinnamon Toast Crunch, brown sugar, cherry & plum fruitiness, smooth boozy notes (though not distinctively Jack Daniels), wet oak, & finally some chili pepper spice in the finish. Actually quite tingly, especially by the end of the glass. Lots of sweet cherry, vanilla, plum, coconut & cinnamon grows with warmth. Outstanding complexity, just a joy all around. Takes the regular Mexican Cake to a whole new level. Bravo!

Bottle shared by Hopscotch. Dark brown pour with a fleeting white head. Whiskey aromas. Big time heat from the chili peppers. Delicious cinnamon, mild vanilla, cacao, rich caramel and ooze highlights. Cola lowlights. Outstanding mouthfeel with a good body. Impressive...
