COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Westbrook’s Belgian Quadrupel was a short-lived member of its special collection, going on tap almost exclusively at the brewery and ostensibly disappearing. A brewery tour stop in the barrel room indicates that most of this puppy has been aging ever since, and here’s your chance to sample the results. The Mourvèdre wine barrel should complement the massive dark fruit and malt components of the Quad quite nicely.

De tirador al CBC. Molt vinosa. Amb notes de vainilla i fusta. Molt ben equilibrada. Punt sour que li dóna una acidesa molt interessant. De lo millor que vaig provar al festival. Genial!

12-MAY-2012, draft @CBC. Dark, dark brown with lasting beige head. Nise is tart and red-wine-like. Taste is malty, brett’y, red-wine, wood, wine and so much more. Quite sour, sweet as well. Medium carbonation. Could smell this all night. Fantastic brew

Served on draft at Brewvival 2012. Pours dark brown with a thin dark brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of wine, grapes, tannic notes, toffee, raisin, toasted malts. The taste is toasted malts, bread, toffee, plums, grapes, other fruit notes. Pretty intense. Full bodied. Damn good.

Fat på CBC 2013. Riktig fin. Smak och doft av humle, malt, ekfat, vanilj och mörkfrukt som russin, plommon och aprikos,. Frisk och syrlig med bourbonkaraktär. Lagom söt med fin beska.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Black color with brownish head, compact. The aroma is dominated by a very nice vanilla, with sweet wood and traces of raspberry, and a hint of cheese. Good body strength, with some residual sweetness, dark caramel flavor, evident influence from red fruits, and a fair degree of acidity; yet, with a touch of vanilla, this manages to be smooth. Overall well balanced.
A very interesting brew, one that makes me happy I tried it.
Last opinion: the aroma is fantastic, the flavor a bit too much fruity.
A great beer.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours a dark brown body with a big off-white head. Aroma is buttery doughy caramelized sweet tones, biscuits, hints of toffee, soy, wood and dark malts. Amazing in its near-pungent sweetness, which is beckoning without being over the top in any way. Man, this smells good! Taste is vastly complex: malty butterscotch-like tones with somehow still appear to end up as slightly tart (!), raisins, wood, toffee and hints of red berries. Complex interplay between sour, wine-like BA tones and doughy buttersweet notes from the quad. Smooth and nearly slick mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. A truly original concept which I thoroughly enjoyed - one of the very pleasant surprises at CBC. :-)

Draught at CBC. Pours a dark brown. Smells of something like a creamy brandy, with some fruit in the nose. Tastes like caramel sour apple, a heavy sweet, medium sour, alight tart. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily texture. Quite nice!

Draught @ CBC2013. Pours hazy dark reddish brown with a big creamy brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, tiny sour, malty and fruity with sweet dark bread, toffee, red wine, moist wood, dried dark fruits, blueberries, caramel, biscuits and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, tiny sour, malty and fruity with sweet dark bread, moist wood, roasted nuts, biscuits, toffee, caramel, lots of red wine, raisins, prunes, dates and hay. Mouthfeel is round, soft, tiny boozy, tiny tart and near full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny sour and fruity with dark bread, raisins, figs, dates, red wine, moist wood, roasted nuts and biscuits.
