3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to NYCBUCKEYE for this bottle in a recent trade. Wanted to try it side-by-side with a New Glarus, but they’re so different I opted out. 750ML bottle split with my wife.
The pour is what I imagine is left over in the tank after a big batch of 100% Florida Orange Juice is brewed - orange sludge. Opaque, light, filmy carbonation. Nose is biting lemon mixed with a sugary rhubarb. Very odd.
Rhubarb Remix doesn’t pull its Kosoto Gake. Sharp tartness stings the palate & rides roughshod over any subtleties or subtitles that might be interesting. Roughage & grainy. Splinters of fruit (the rhubarb? strawberry? kind of moves around) in the finish. Tingly, almost ginger ale on the tongue. The tartness numbs the palate up after a few sips; I could drink a fair amount of this.
Not a bad effort, but the tart blitz obscures what I’m pretty sure are more interesting notes underneath. Pretty good beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 20, 2014 750 ml bottle shared by MaxxDaddy at the Aloft Thursday Night Beer Fart Dungeon. Pours a hazy, pale gold with a small white head. After it gushed, that is. Notes of rhubarb, lemon, saltwater, sour mash, strawberries, sourdough, and wheat. Light-medium bodied, with a sour, wheaty, dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. I’ve had other strawberry rhubarb beers but this one works best, and goes really well with the Berliner profile. Man, great beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very hazy orangeish peach color with a fluffy white head. Nose is very funky and bretty for some reason, subtle strawberry, a nice grainy spice note, musty barnyard note, and an almost rubbery smell as well. Taste is quite light, very mild sourness, a little strawberry, wheat, musty funk, lemon, wet grass, spice, and rhubarb. Light and not super sour, I just feel like I don’t get a whole lot of the intended flavors. It’s more of a really funky/bretty wheat beer.

[ Bottle ][ RBWG Afterparty Day 1 ][ 750mL ][ RBWG Globe ][ Free ][ 2/6/14 ]
>> GUSHER. Thanks Maxx for the share. Full haze, white grapefruit juice pour with weak foam. Nose is fresh rhubarb, blueberry, mild plastic phenols, salty, sour red grapefruit,. Taste is salty, clean, very light but overcarbonated and drained. Refreshing, light tartness. More saison esque without the typical sour wheat mash profile of a Berliner. Aerated, refreshing, salty, buoyant palate. Sprayed all over jtclockwork’s bed.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a severely hazy golden orange with a hint of pink, fluffy white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma is big on the bready grain and protein laden wheat. Taste is more on the yeast and nice sour sweet strawberry rhubarb. Bubbly carbonation, thick and bready on the mouth. Not as awesome as I was expecting, but very nicely done.
