COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vanilla Tree is a Belgian-style dubbel brewed with a variety of dark crystal malts and dark Belgian candi syrup. After fermentation, the beer is aged on whole vanilla beans and toasted oak chips. The result is a wonderfully smooth, malty ale with notes of dark fruit, spice, and (naturally) vanilla and oak!

Bottle share at Hampton Inn pre-DLD party. Pour is ruby brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is on the sweeter side with notes of dark fruit, spices, vanilla extract, and oak. Flavor and mouthfeel are both heavier than I expected with notes of burnt wood, vanilla, dark fruit, and chocolate. Dry finish.

Bottled Nov. 1, 2012 - Vanilla Tree Dubbel has a balanced and mostly unobtrusive application of wood. The contribution by vanilla is also modest and these donít overpower the beer. There is a rich and creamy character which is quite appealing. Unfortunately there is also a bit of bitterness and astringency that seems to come from the oak that creates a slight twinge that eventually becomes more pronounced.

Bottle thanks to somebody, rating from my backlog. The smell is caramel, sweet, candy, sweet, and alcohol. The look is brown to amber in color with not really any head. The taste is sweet, marshmallow, and alcohol.

Bottled 01/11/12. Pours a dark brown coca cola colour with a thin tan head. Fruity candy toffee aroma. Medium to full body, mild fine carbonation. Treacly, sticky sweet, toffee, dark sugars, touch of rum, some dark fruits - prunes, rich malt loaf, some chocolate. OK, syrupy.

Bottle from liquor express. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Kind of sweet on the nose. Canít say Iím getting a ton of oak or vanilla on the tongue. Finishes clean. Solid but not spectacular.
