Vanilla Tree is a Belgian-style dubbel brewed with a variety of dark crystal malts and dark Belgian candi syrup. After fermentation, the beer is aged on whole vanilla beans and toasted oak chips. The result is a wonderfully smooth, malty ale with notes of dark fruit, spice, and (naturally) vanilla and oak!

Bottled 01/11/12. Pours a dark brown coca cola colour with a thin tan head. Fruity candy toffee aroma. Medium to full body, mild fine carbonation. Treacly, sticky sweet, toffee, dark sugars, touch of rum, some dark fruits - prunes, rich malt loaf, some chocolate. OK, syrupy.

Bottle from liquor express. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Kind of sweet on the nose. Can’t say I’m getting a ton of oak or vanilla on the tongue. Finishes clean. Solid but not spectacular.

Thanks to someone for sharing this at bu11zeye’s 10,000th tasting in April 2012. Brown pour with a white head. The aroma is full of Belgian candy sugar as well as some toffee. The vanilla really comes through in the flavor and is joined by some toffee and candy sugar notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

22oz poured into a tulip glass. Dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is dark sweet fruits, raisins, vanilla...certainly a Belgian style. I’m generally not a huge fan of dubbel but this is nice. Very drinkable, very well done!

Rasiny, vanilla sweet aroma and taste. Poured dark brown with a tan colored head. Quite an interesting mix of flavors, but also quite good.

Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, vanilla, chocolate, dark sugar, caramel, dried dark fruits, oak, grass, dark malts. Taste is vanilla paste, oak, grass, caramel, dark malts, cocoa, dark sugar, dried dark fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Pretty nice actually, better than most Belgian doubbles.
