COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vanilla Tree is a Belgian-style dubbel brewed with a variety of dark crystal malts and dark Belgian candi syrup. After fermentation, the beer is aged on whole vanilla beans and toasted oak chips. The result is a wonderfully smooth, malty ale with notes of dark fruit, spice, and (naturally) vanilla and oak!

Botella. Marrón oscura casi negra con excelente corona, menos carbonatacion que una doble belga tradicional. Aroma licoroso y dulce con especias de por medio y muchas trazas de maltas caramelizadas. Sabor café y regaliz mucho dulzor intermedia y gran amargor bien camuflado, especiada. Agradable final

Deep brown pour .... Thin beige head .... aroma of candi sugar, dark fruits and caramel malts .... taste of vanilla, candi sugar, caramel malts, little boozy dark fruits, little spicy and dry oak .... Mellow and smooth with a thinner body than expected

Slutfest 2013: Pecan nose. Cloudy brown, thin tan head. Flavor is somewhere between maple syrup and bubblegum, but closer to the latter. Odd. Disparate flavors and aromas, muddled with no transitions. Kind of a mess.

Aromas of marble pound cake, peanut butter cookies, golden raisins, and floral hops. Brown with mostly lasting, khaki head. Off-dry, rummy, with coconut tones, and some cola. Medium body, average carbonation, and a sweet, nutty finish.

Opaque dark brown beer with a good pale tan head. Palate is smooth but dry. Dark chocolate cake. Minerals. Trace of hops but this is a chocolate cake beer!

Nice brown color, light head. Big vanilla taste, but a short finish. Good approach, but flavor was all in the middle.

22 oz. bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Bottled November 1, 2012. Pours a deep, murky, opaque plum-tinted dull mahogany with a small beige head that leaves tiny lace spots. Aroma of vanilla, toasted malts and oak chips, chocolate, dark fruits, candi syrup, and boozy bread. Flavor hits all the same notes, with a little nuttiness. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, chewy mouthfeel that finishes toasty. Good dubbel; not as much vanilla as I’d expected based on earlier ratings.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2013 Dark brown color. Smells of sweet fruit. Tastes of syrup malts and fruit with a hint of vanilla. Its okay I’m just not a Belgian guy.

22oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of roast, light vanilla, wood, and some dark fruits. Tastes of vanilla (stronger than the aromas), dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, and some roast.

Bomber. Pours deep brown with a cream head that’s slow to show up. Weak, sweet vanilla aroma. Taste is cloyingly vanilla without any oak notes. Disappointment after a nice string of amazing finds from Westbrook.
