Slutfest 2013: Pecan nose. Cloudy brown, thin tan head. Flavor is somewhere between maple syrup and bubblegum, but closer to the latter. Odd. Disparate flavors and aromas, muddled with no transitions. Kind of a mess.

Nice brown color, light head. Big vanilla taste, but a short finish. Good approach, but flavor was all in the middle.

22 oz. bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Bottled November 1, 2012. Pours a deep, murky, opaque plum-tinted dull mahogany with a small beige head that leaves tiny lace spots. Aroma of vanilla, toasted malts and oak chips, chocolate, dark fruits, candi syrup, and boozy bread. Flavor hits all the same notes, with a little nuttiness. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, chewy mouthfeel that finishes toasty. Good dubbel; not as much vanilla as I’d expected based on earlier ratings.
