Vanilla Tree is a Belgian-style dubbel brewed with a variety of dark crystal malts and dark Belgian candi syrup. After fermentation, the beer is aged on whole vanilla beans and toasted oak chips. The result is a wonderfully smooth, malty ale with notes of dark fruit, spice, and (naturally) vanilla and oak!

We carry this at our bar and it is truly an awesome beer. It has a great caramel undertone that is smooth on the palate. Great to drink a couple of these in the afternoon.

Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, vanilla, chocolate, dark sugar, caramel, dried dark fruits, oak, grass, dark malts. Taste is vanilla paste, oak, grass, caramel, dark malts, cocoa, dark sugar, dried dark fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Pretty nice actually, better than most Belgian doubbles.

on tap at brewery, the vanilla is very light on this one and adds as an excellent complement to the dubbel style.

27-AUG-2012, bottle @Papsø. Dark amber with tan head. Hoppy and malty. Vannilla and wood. High carbonation, a little sweet. Almost an American Strong Ale. The dubbel is well hidden under the wood and hops. Really nice.

22oz poured into a tulip glass. Dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is dark sweet fruits, raisins, vanilla...certainly a Belgian style. I’m generally not a huge fan of dubbel but this is nice. Very drinkable, very well done!

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a medium creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart fruits, herbal hop finish. The taste is toffee malts, toastiness, plums, stone fruits, vanilla and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

Pours a deep dark red with a nice off white head. Aromas of Belgian yeast, some candied sugars and caramel malts. Taste is a good bit of caramel maltiness with some plums and raisins popping through with a bit of the vanilla showing up every so often. Very mild bitterness, which takes a back seat to the sweetness in this one, and the carbonation runs rather soft. Has a nice oak character and is very well balanced. Pretty impressive offering from a brewery in my home state, that’s just getting its legs under them.
