COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

First can I was like, WTF is this? But by the second can I was sold. Definitely a beer that stands out for its itness - no other beer is like it. Ginger is too strong, lemongrass is powerfully present, but there is a great saison foundation here and once you get past the unfamiliarity the beer settles in as notably unique. I’ve had two Westbrook beers now and I am ready to say this is one of the better brewers in America.

Ever so slightly hazy copper coloured body with hints of orange and a thin white head, less than a centimetre tall. Aroma of grain, coriander seed, wheat, cereal and a touch of curacao. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive coriander seed and curacao flavours up front with some full oranges and light spices noticeable as well. Aftertaste shows more grain and a good deal of unfinished yeast in the mix, all with more body than I expected. Overall, a nicely layered wit with some odd profiles and atypical tastes, but largely still a good beer, especially for the style and even more especially so, served in a can. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 18-July-2014 for US$2,50 sampled at home in Washington on 20-February-2015 a few hours before leaving for Charleston, SC.

12oz can. Drank this with Jambalaya in Charleston. Greatly refreshing, I didn’t pick up on the ginger much. Pours semi-hazy light yellow - a little lighter than other wheats. No head and no lacing. Aroma of citrus and some malt. Flavor is mild grass, lemon (yes, lemongrass), and wheat. Low alcohol, and a very crisp finish make this a great brew for hot summer session.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2015 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Very pale yellow colour, only slightly hazy, moderate white head. Strong aroma of lemongrass / lemon and ginger, a hint of dill. Wheaty flavour with distinct notes of lemongrass and citrus, also ginger, with a hint of dill in the very moderately bitter finish. Nice and refreshing, definitely a beer I’ll have again - especially in summer.

Can from a trade. Pours a dull yellow orange color. An aggressive bubbly white head. An off aroma of funky spices and maybe ginger. Very meh. An almost syrupy thickness with a chunky mouthfeel. A big wheaty flavor mixed with a ton of ginger especially shown in the end. Slight lemon drop note. A sharp carbonation that lingers on. A foamy funky (not good funk) aftertaste. I can see where it can be refreshing but I would like a smoother taste. Definitely interesting.
