COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

Hazy light gold/strah hue with a big rocky white head. The aroma can be detected a foot away, with lots of hay and spicy bread dough, some rye, lots of coriander and a little candied wheat. Big bold flavor with sweet earthy wheat, doughy yeast, lots of coriander, spicy rye, a little lemon pepper, an earthy funkiness and a little eccentric belgian light fruitiness on the finish..really wonderful.

Can. Lemongrass aroma. Cloudy yellow body with thin lasting head. Flavor begins citrusy with hints of pepper. A little sorachi bite with hints of wheat and ginger. Dry and crisp, very refreshing. A great summer beer.

Can @ home, courtesy of cinefreak7. Thanks Justin! Pours a cloudy, light yellow appearance with a beautiful, lasting white head. Looks absolutely gorgeous. Aroma reminds me a bit of Dogfish Head Namaste with a notable lemongrass element. Somewhat spicy yeasty, lemon citrusy, soft, inviting aroma. Fairly herbal, grassy, a touch chewy, lemon, ginger, a bit earthy, slightly tangy, sweet wheat flavor. Well balanced and easy drinking. Nothing crazy good but a nice wheat beer.

Cloudy yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is lemon, lemongrass, very slight hops and a bit of ginger. Flavor is lightly refreshing but full flavored. Notes of bright citrus hops with strong lemon undertones. Nice wheat flavor and decently spiced. Just a touch bitter in the finish, but not overly so. Wife: 4

Pours cloudy lemon yellow. Full aromas of tangerine and white flower. Full bodied palate. Shows orange blossom, banana, white flowers. A fresh vegetal note, lemon and a little white pepper. Complex flavors with an extremely lingering finish. Perfect balance on the palate.

Nice beer! light yellow pour, white head. The Thai spices are evident up front, lots of lemongrass and ginger. Flavor blends the spices and base beer seamlessly. Very refreshing and easy to drink.

Well-done wit from America with interesting spice mix where ginger and lemon grass contributes nice freshness. Tart and refreshing.

I poured a 12oz can into a tulip glass. There may have been a freshness date, but it was smeared. The can cost $2.99 ($0.25 per ounce).

Appearance: A pretty hue of bright yellow/pale orange. Quite hazy. Pours to a large, bright white, frothy head which retains and laces extremely well.

Smell: Classic witbier aroma of Belgian yeast esters, some citrus and dry spice.

Taste: Usually when I try a brewery for the first time I prefer to have something that complements the season. Westbrook White Thai is a witbier in style, but not brewed to style. Combine that with the fact I’m drinking it in the coldest part of the winter and this beer definitely had a lot of obstacles to overcome to impress me. But sure enough it did, as I enjoyed the subtleties of the palette as well as the easy drinkability.

The brewery indicates this beer is made with lemongrass, ginger root and Sorachi Ace hops - none of which are common for the style. However, in concert with each other they end up working quite well as substitutes for the usual spices. Witbier, when done right, tends to have a lemony character to it, so using lemongrass instead of orangepeel, is a natural addition. Normally, I dislike ginger in beer, but it’s in such a finite amount here that it works as a true spice and isn’t a distraction. The Sorachi Ace hops give it some peppery bitterness, especially on the finish, though this is by no means a hoppy or bitter beer per se. I could see this palette being appreciated by drinkers of all experience levels.

Drinkability: "Drinker-friendly" is definitely a term apropos to Westbrook White Thai. Not only is it tasty and balanced, but it’s easy to drink. The mouthfeel is thin, but not to the point of being watery or distracting. It’s quite refreshing and finishes clean. At only 5% ABV, this is definitely in the "sessionable" category of beer for sure. I could see six-packs of this going quick at my house in the summer.
