This beer is the premier offering in a collaborative series between two South Carolinians—one went to California to make wine, the other stayed home to make beer! We aged this Tripel for 9 months in French oak barrels that were used to mature the 2008 vintage of Whetstone Bella Vigna Pinot Noir. A refermentation in the bottle creates the tiny bubbles that bring this exciting fusion of the brewers’ and winemakers’ crafts to life.

Bottle shared at the Croydonia Tasting, thanks to Paul, 13/07/13. Bottle #12 - exciting for a number fink like myself to hit on such a low number ;). Hazed orange amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is bitter orange, light brett, soured peaches, sugars, yeasty notes, light booze wafting off the surface into the nostrils. Taste comprises bitter orange, brett, caramel, oaky notes, red grape, light booze. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dry and crisp in the execution with a little coating of booze. Decent affair.

Cloudy amber beer, good white head. Palate is fresh and light. Mild crispy carbonation, semi dry. A little creamy malt with a mellow tripel like sweet and spicy vibe. Mild red wine fruits and a little lactose. Touch of wood and minerals. Pretty good but not a patch on the other two wine barrel versions.
