Cask; Regular.
The first new permanent beer for 4 years, Spirit of Kent celebrates the Kent Spitfire, a Mark IX Spitfire housed at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar. It also remembers the "XXX Modification Depth Charges" that flew out of Biggin Hill in June 1944 filled with Westerham Ales. The "XXX Joy Juice" was racked into the unused auxiliary fuel tanks and flown over to the forward airbases in France click here for more details. This golden ale is hopped with 9 different types of Kent bred and Kent grown hops in a total of 9 separate additions. That really is the Spirit of Kent.

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 3 - London. Pours clear orange-gold with a white cream topping. Solid bitter, with semi-dry citrus fruits, dry pine, grainy bread, faint dough and leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Pretty well balanced on the finish, lightly drying, with leafy bitterness and citrus rind. Good.

Cask at Sir Richard Steele pub. Pale orange, clear, still, small white head. Aroma is very toned down but there is some soft malt, glue. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is light malts, floral drying hop, resinous and pithy - too bitter like meadowsweet, chewing on banana skin. Didn’t finish my half.

Cask at the Kings Head W2. Golden yellow, thin head. A moderately hoppy golden ale, came across a little sweet and flabby to me. Drinkable but didn’t fancy another really.

Looks golden and a bit hazy, with a small pure white head. Aroma of hops, a bit of malt and yeast, not a great deal else. Taste- plenty of hop bitterness going on, fruits and spices as well, medium mouthfeel. Ok.

Cask at the Ship Inn, Cobham Spring beer festival. Light amber pour with a white head. Citrus and malt aroma. Light malt and caramel flavour with strange undertones of cooking fat. Not too palatable, must’ve been on the turn... I hope..
