3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
An interesting first attempt at a shandy, this falls far short of something I’d order a full pint of or purchase off the shelf. Instead of blended flavors you get a very distinct staging of sequential changes that leave the palate confused. The aroma and initial flavor are dominated by strawberry. Next you get a big sizzle from the presumably higher than normal carbonation, similar to some Belgian Ales that range into 3.4 volumes rather than the standard 2.4. Next you get a vague creaminess from the wheat that makes the strawberry fizz seem out of place. The finish is both tart and malty. Somehow most of the other flavors wash away and you are left with the light taste of crystal malt?
